  1. Gonna be tough for him. After a bad year, and given his age, his AAV is going to be much lower than he was hoping for. He's also not in a great position to take a 1-year $20 million dollar deal to rebuild value, because not many teams will want to give up that draft pick for a single year of Jose.
  2. What would we do with $15-20 M that would practically guarantee us 2-3 WAR?
  3. Sanchez. Stroman looks too much like Ricky Romero, so I don't trust him.
  4. I have a few players that I won't be able to keep. If anyone wants them cheap, let me know. Looking for small waiver upgrades or small draft upgrades. Nick Hundley. Colby Lewis. Robbie Erlin. Nick Tropeano.
  5. Hated the way he left Toronto, after 'striking out' against Kansas City, with two of the worst calls I've ever seen.
  6. Still, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg will all use the games as an excuse to fly down and do some gambling/whoring while they are there.
  7. It's a perfect move for Vegas. Do you know how easy it's going to be to convince Torontonians to come down to Vegas to see the Leafs play the Vegas team, and do a s***-ton of gambling while they are at it?
  8. I think with the reports of the way Cuban players have been treated (held hostage, and had their families threatened until they sign), MLB needs to seriously address that in the next collective bargaining agreement. A draft would certainly be one way of doing it.
  9. OK traded Odor to Dinger for Danny Duffy. Also, are our rosters frozen now, or can we still pick up free agents?
  10. Standard Union. Union: "We fight for the poor and the oppressed" - Hey guys, what about these people making less than minimum wage? Union: "Increase their wages too, unless it impacts the wages of the union people, in which case f*** 'em."
  11. Not sure why every time we get a quality reliever capable of pitching more than one inning, we want to turn him into a starter. We could actually use a Miller-lite, who can be effective in multiple innings, to bring in, in key situations.
  12. My favorite moment was when his wife went on Twitter to disagree with some the coaching decisions involving her husband. Good times.
  13. I am interested in trading a batter for a pitcher. Ideally looking for a 1-1 for a starter. Looking for similar quality and age. Can offer: Jackie Bradley Jr. Max Kepler Domingo Santana Robbie Grossman Cheslor Cuthbert Logan Forsythe Rougned Odor Marcus Semien
  14. I can't believe everybody has given up on Lind. One bad season (in Seattle), and everyone thinks he's dogshit. We could pick up his contract for $2 million, and I wouldn't be remotely surprised if he surpassed both Smoak and Morneau.
  15. Also, How the hell did Thames steal 40 bases in 2015?
  16. Oh, Yankees attendance dropped in September when they were out of it. Clearly that shows that fans only care about winning and don't care about retiring veterans.
  17. People seem to forget how he single-handedly carries us past Texas last year. He was ridiculous in the post-season in 2015. A real shame we can't sign him to a lengthy contract, and have him retire here. A big send-off and retirement game is the kind of thing that keeps fans loyal to the game, even in the down years. Toronto has never really gotten that though. We never hang on to any of our veteran franchise players. That's why we'll never pack a stadium in September when we're under .500
  18. If he gets caught doing steroids and suspended, we don't have to pay his salary while he's suspended. The real issue is if he signs a contract with us and stops doing steroids. The Jays must have some kind of steroid advisors who teach these guys how to avoid detection.
  19. "But I won't include rankings that are an obvious troll attempt." Boooooo!
  20. Thoughts 1) It's important for Lourdes to do well in Toronto, not just batting, but that he enjoys his time here. I think a lot of foreign born players especially Cuban born players may be reluctant to deal with all of the possible border issues. 2) We've now added three decent prospects to our farm system. It is nice to see a change from AA's win-now mentality, and see our farm system actually getting better, instead of just getting pillaged. 3) The value of Cuban players hit an all-time high after Puig and Abreu had their dominant years. But, they've cooled off and other recent Cuban stars have not fared as well, so I think the value has dropped significantly.
  21. I feel like $10 million is a lot of money for what will essentially be a utility/bench player. His defense doesn't seem to be that good in the infield, and it's on the decline. The only position where his defense was OK was outfield, but I don't feel his batting line is good enough to be an outfielder. I'd rather stick with Darwin Barney who we could probably get for 1.5 million, is younger, provided more war than Kendrick last year, and can play good defense at 2B, SS, 3B and outfield. That's 8.5 million saved for something better than a bench player.
  22. I'd rather we brought back Adam Lind. - He had a bad year last year, so he'll probably be pretty cheap. - He hit better in Toronto than anywhere else he landed. - His wife is from Toronto, so he'd probably like to come back. - Rasmus is off the team, so he's probably like the environment a lot more. - He gave the best interviews I've ever seen.
  23. Hook, line and sinker. IMHO, seemed a little on-the-nose, but can't argue with results.
  24. The old forum was a lot worse. If someone made a comment about some player 'not having enough RBI's'. the panel would go apeshit (Boxy, Nox, BTS and Dinger). And God forbid if anyone engaged in FanGraphs denial. Every word is sacred.
  25. Mark Trumbo 3/48 Neftali Feliz 2/10 Jon Niese 2/12 Dioner Navarro 1/7
