  1. I think so, the division is wide open.
  2. I'd probably say 2-5% but that's fair your eyes are open. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to deal him for Samardzija but some will disagree.
  3. Give me the odds that you think Sanchez turns into a #1 or #1a starter. Eduardo Rodriguez (who I think is a lot better than Sanchez) was traded for 2 months of Andrew Miller who was a big part of their playoff run. You need to open your eyes and realize he's a guy they should be looking to deal for a rotation upgrade.
  4. They won the division? Sanchez is not on the same level of Samardzija, it would be a huge upgrade. How good exactly do you think Sanchez is? He might be ok, he might be terrible, I can't see any scenario where he becomes a top of the rotation starter, so they shouldn't hesitate trading him for a win now player.
  5. Eduardo Rodriguez was traded for Andrew Miller last year. If you get a player who can put your team over the top for Sanchez you do it 10/10 times.
  6. They have Carrera to fill in, who's passable. Ideally you can get someone like Revere but they only have so many assets to trade, Revere might cost something that should be going towards a trade for a starter.
  7. Despite the declines he's still a very good pitcher. One thing I like is that he has been durable and has the build and delivery of a guy who should continue to be. As much as I like Cueto it often seems or feels that he is close to being injured. Cueto is better but Samardzija is more reliable and will cost significantly less.
  8. I don't know. Pentecost, Boyd, Sanchez? I don't think Travis or Norris would be on the table for 2-3 months of Samardzija. A year and a half of Samardzija + a couple months of Hammel got a top tier prospect in Russell, so you'd think they would require a lot less now.
  9. Sorry to break it to you but Saunders could be total crap coming back from injury. There's a very real chance a Colabello/Carrera mix is what's best for the team. I hope I am wrong. Navarro is a good backup C given the circumstances. Reyes isn't good but he probably gets too much s*** for his bad plays. He has a good arm and is one of the best hitting shortstops. Let's not worry about offense/defense and focus on getting Samardzija or Cueto.
  10. You guys are all talking about pitchers who AA might shy away from. Samardzija + Nate Jones would be an excellent grab, and it won't take Devon Travis like someone suggested. I think Jones could be a legitimate late inning pitcher if he recovers from TJS and Samardzija is a good pitcher who got off to a tough start. Perfect fit IMO.
  11. He's pretty good. Don't be fooled by the last time the Jays played there.
  12. What would it take to get Samardzija? Maybe try to add a reliever like a returning Nate Jones and you have 2 nice additions for possibly a decent price.
  13. Yep. Going based on memory, he always seemed to be decent but could blow up just like any back end starter.
  14. Delmon Young was a top prospect for years, and arguably the best in 2006. Teams continued to drool over his offensive potential, a lot different than John Mac.
  15. Yeah I think so. He could do it again, he does have a nice 2 seamer that could lead to a lot of choppers, but for my fantasy team's purposes I'm considering benching him lol.
  16. Colon is one of my favourite pitchers. Looking forward to that one, although I think the Jays get to him.
  17. A lot of teams will be after Carlos Gomez. I actually think an interesting trade target is Carlos Gonzalez. He's owed quite a bit still but that might make him come cheap. Excellent player off to a poor start, although he's heating up lately.
  18. Some people look at things in terms of xfip and a couple of other numbers without looking at the whole picture, and that's ok.
  19. Why do you say this? They got rid of Trumbo and saved some cash, maybe they weren't willing to taking on the salary.
  20. 2 complete games in a row. Guy is a horse let's give credit where it's due he is an awesome pitcher to have.
  21. 99% is obviously an exaggeration. Everyone I've talked to about the Jays (casual fans who don't stare at fangraphs like some people here) like Reyes. Just because the board hates his defense doesn't mean the public dislikes him.
  22. He's a likable player, not sure why you're confused. Pretty sure 99% of the fanbase really likes Reyes.
  23. He's a hard guy to hate, whether people like to admit it or not.
