  1. I couldn't imagine that he'd want to continue having been neutered.
  2. That was low, he deserved better than that.
  3. We're adding a bunch of 4th outfielders and minor league fodder. There's at least a half dozen guys on the 40-man that I would outright release right now. Pearson was worth keeping. The Garcia trade makes some sense, although I probably would have wanted a lottery ticket too. We didn't get one. We should have started Pearson for the rest of the season and if it didn't work, let him go. We got pure turd in return.
  4. My greatest fear was that a walking turd would be making the calls on a tear down. So far we've acquired a potential 4th outfielder an old catcher and two minor league backups. So now we trade Kikuchi and what do we do? Might as well have Spanky grab his globe and give it a go.
  5. The pitching cupboard is completely empty. Nothing to draw on.
  6. When we let Vogelbach go, that was a complete signal that Kikuchi is gone.
  7. You hit the nail on the head: - he's not talking to anybody (or more importantly, nobody's talking to him), screwing up their approach - not running the offense
  8. Notice that you barely see Don Mattingly anymore?
  9. I always think back to the starting rotations of the 80's when hitting 90 was considered something and 95 was blazing. But at the same time, we had 4 starters going well over 200 IP at a time. That won't happen with the 100 mph fastballs.
  10. Reasonable thought process, just wondering.
  11. Why do you think it's a punt?
  12. Wonder where he starts -- Florida or Vancouver.
  13. Is the draft on tv, and if so which channel?
  14. s*** can always change, things happen, but it sounds a lot like some decisions are all but made. Spending all this money to upgrade the Dome (and yes, I still call it the "Dome") and then making such a bad team cannot be acceptable to Rogers & friends.
  15. Francis gets beat up a lot. Any reason to believe that will change or does it just not matter?
  16. I missed seeing his defense, if it's for real or not, my opinion was just on his offense, and in that I thought he's done well. Anyone able to assess his defense?
  17. Blue Jay Central. There was a session on all the relievers who are going into starting. I did hear something a few days ago but it sounded like so much wind. It seems to be gathering though. Maybe cause nobody else can start. Pearson's comment was supposedly that he always wanted to be a starter. Take this for what it's worth.
  18. so it sounds like Pearson is going back to starting. Not the worst idea.
  19. You know, I was thinking about Bo and his personal life as it can impact on these kind of decisions. Other than his father, and the accusations that come with that, I don't know a thing about his personal life other than he used to play tennis. Anyone?
  20. I try to forget, it was the kind of baseball I hated.
  21. The JP Ricchiardi days were the worst. Sitting on the bases, no running, bats on their shoulder. The man did not understand statistics. The best years were around 1983-85 in terms of excitement.
  22. With a versatile defense, he can kind of be protected by getting days at 1b and dh. He also seems like a smart young guy that can learn the position. He might not have the physical talent but has the brains to learn the job.
  23. I always figured he might be passable at LF and allow Schneider more time at 2b. But in a season like this, it makes sense to see what he can do at 2b. Build up the small sample size.
