  1. I'd still say there is an optimal bat speed for everyone, but with weighted bats and whatever it can be increased. But increasing your swing speed beyond your optimal swing speed can lessen your average output. Some swings may be better but many more will be worse. Similar to why you choke up on 2 strikes.
  2. I think the best bat speed for a player is like a bell curve, you don't get batter because you're faster.
  3. swinging harder and faster doesn't necessarily produce any better. I know I've had my golf swing analyzed and the more I tried to rush it the worse it got. I'm assuming that it would hold for baseball swings.
  4. Gotta agree with that, his physical tools are off the chart but his mental is 5 cents. I think that's why I find him infuriating.
  5. can you edit the picture and put donkey features on it?
  6. This bullpen is just like the pre-1985 bullpens. To put it nicely: unreliable and disappointing.
  7. actually I think we could get some kind of lottery for Turner.
  8. Normally I'm in favour of a firesale if there's somebody who can come in and do better, whether it's immediately or in the longer term. This year I don't think there's anyone who can do any better at any position. We have maybe one starter in Macko since Ricky T is so injured. Martinez might be available the last days of September, but that's it.
  9. If Votto can still produce, I'd keep him at platoon DH, backup 1b. The big "IF" is if he can still produce. I'd start cutting Turner's time and consider trading him for a lottery pick along with KK. Our minor league system has never been so empty. I never liked the idea of Vogelbach, he couldn't do anything besides the odd poke.
  10. What situation would be better: 1. Votto at 1b, Vladdy at 3b, Turner at DH, Clement/Barger/IKF at bench 2. Votto at DH, Vladdy at 1b, Turner at bench, Clement/Barger/IKF at 3b 3. Votto at bench (spot start), Vladdy at 1b, Turner at DH (spot start), Clement/Barger/IKF at 3b I'm thinking option 3 makes the most sense.
  11. Okay so Jimenez gets his quick test to see if he's ready for the Majors and to replace Bo for the longer term.
  12. I agree with your analysis but I think he hits better when batting behind better hitters. Some hitters can do well even with 8 other s***** hitters. He's not one of them.
  13. Disagree. Semien set the tone in 2021.
  14. I think the whole problem is that Vlad can't be the offensive leader of the team, he has to be #2 or 3 run producer. He would probably be amazing on the Yankees. He's got the abilities just not the head for it.
  15. I think you're right. I had the team closer to .500 I think. The pitching was really healthy and I thought there may be a decrease here. And as for the offense, I expected about the same as last year. I did not expect Bo to s*** the bed though.
  16. Originally I thought Shatkins would finish the season but there's too much noise suggesting they may be the first out the door. I was not optimistic at the start of the season only because I tend to find that some rookies will get better, some older guys will get worse and the rest will be about the same. I figured Springer and KK would get worse (though not this bad) and the pitchers who were incredible last year would fall a bit more back to their expected average (which seems to be the case). When Shatkins said that crap about the players will all get better it was at that point that I lost confidence in him.
  17. I read a lot of different opinions and writers, some I agree with, some I completely disagree with. In this case, I think the article reflects a common opinion that will have some impact on Rogers and what they'll do. You don't learn anything only reading the opinions of those with whom you agree. There was only one writer who I thought had no direct resources and made things up and thus didn't read his work -- Marty York. I used to read the posts of the guys that were in tune with the young Dominicans. A lot of what they wrote was ******** but they usually had a few facts of who's being signed and where they're going.
  18. My point is more that it's getting around. Shapiro has to be answering to the board/Edward Rogers.
  19. That was more why I posted it: it seems the discussion of how change is to be implemented is getting more wide-spread. Let's face it, a bunch of schlubs on a discussion board won't do it, but the larger media might. Brownie posts that he's a moron, but do you disagree with his article?
  20. My comment is more on the amount he has to do in RF does not compare and is easier to perform.
  21. A lot less than when he played CF.
  22. Maybe his hitting has gone down the way his defense has gone down. He used to be a great CF. Now he's an ok RF. Back problems maybe? If so, he won't get better. Hope I'm wrong.
  23. Springer's new name: TOAST
  24. yeah, it's a ridiculous move. -leg problems -10 days off Leadoff is the worst place for him.
