  1. 2-3 good moves would put them into contention it just doesn't look too likely that top free agents will want to sign here. Two big problems: 1. we don't have a great team so not a lot of demand to come here and 2. Taxes are f'ing high so Toronto would have to pay even more just to stay even with other teams. Same as last year.
  2. I guess with Ricky T and eventually Manoah as the 7th potentially and 8th. Anybody put together a 2025 pitching depth chart along with availability to pitch? I think getting an ace and a 6-7 may not be a bad thing. So effectively I think we need to spend on 4 things being a starting pitcher, LF, DH and some bullpen. PS I think you forgot Bassitt?
  3. Totally agree, when the splitter did what it was supposed to do, nobody could sit on the fastball. Before that clicked-in I thought he had no chance. He can't just rely on the fastball. The splitter doing its job seems to make the 92-93 mph fastball about 5 mph faster. Hopefully he gets it all in place for next year.
  4. Thanks for the analysis, it's pretty much what I thought was the case. Looks like LF and DH would be the cheapest fixes. Won't be a lot of 3b who are good and cheap. We'd probably have enough okay and cheap candidates to be useful going forward at 3b and 2b.
  5. He was there according to the announcers though I didn't see him.
  6. You know that previous start with Francis, I think it was the second inning, something just changed with Francis. It's like a light went on and he dominated. Hope it stays. As for Wagner, they say he could hit but defense didn't get any raves. This start showed some good enough D.
  7. I'm guessing they will effectively platoon Wagner with Jimenez with Clement moving between ss and 3b? Not the worst move.
  8. Looks like he's averaged about 5.5 innings per start this year in the minors not including the Buffalo start. That sounds pretty good. Fingers crossed for him.
  9. tighter pitch count than I would expect.
  10. You overestimate some teams.
  11. Give a new guy a chance to come up with a free agent plan. New free agents would probably want to meet the GM and management first.
  12. wondered when that would happen. he kept starting at Buffalo but not really doing anything. Time to start clearing out that roster
  13. If we can get real LF and DH, then we could probably go with what we have at 3b. Spend the rest of the money on pitching.
  14. Loperfido appears to be a good 4th outfielder candidate, maybe even pick up a number of at-bats during an injury or something like that, but not an integral part of the batting order on a daily basis. We clearly need a real LF to bat with Vlad.
  15. Hard to believe there isn't a complete determination of the exact amount and a plan for the remainder of the year. The directors would not be so sloppy.
  16. Could be 2-3 deals still to be had. I thought we'd try to dump KK and a reliever. The taxable salary has to be a major concern.
  17. what time is the deadline?
  18. Love to hear what the plans are but it sounds like Bloss and Loperfido could be on the 26 this season. Loperfido would be a good replacement for KK.
  19. so are we running short one bat as the replacement for Turner? Or was something announced?
  20. I liked Kikuchi, but this is not a bad trade.
  21. It's hard to assess trade offers with limited knowledge but I'd love to rob the Dogers.
  22. Is this the return of Votto?
  23. Looks like it's just a sauna down on the field so you just can't get a proper grip/release on the ball.
  24. so now Schneider is saying that he told Jansen while Jansen says he heard it from the tv? Not impressive.
  25. the one thing I will say he was most successful in was making sure there was enough defensive backup at each position. Always had somebody ready to cover each position. BFD.
