  1. http://blogs.canoe.ca/slam/baseball/don-cherry-trashes-blue-jays-thinks-team-need-more-grinders/ Article says Don Cherry but he's just agreeing with the anonymous player. snippet from original article: http://www.torontosun.com/2013/09/29/jays-reliever-darren-oliver-takes-his-final-bow “I’ll tell you what the GM needs to do for next year, he needs to go get some grinders, some guys who want to play,” one player said. “Look around at all the these empty lockers. I’m no doctor but you can’t tell me all of these guys are so injured or all in Florida re-habbing that they can’t stay for the final weekend of the season.” Empty lockers on the final weekend included Edwin Encarnacion (who had wrist surgery), Jose Bautista (currently treating his hip in Dunedin by jogging underwater), Melky Cabrera (knee, back surgery), Brett Cecil (elbow), Maicer Izturis (ankle), Josh Johnson (forearm), Brandon Morrow (forearm) and Colby Rasmus (hit in the eye last week at Fenway Park), My bet who it was - Derosa or Buehrle
  2. That's exactly what I meant, I should have said No.2 starters instead
  3. Unless we get two 15-game winners we're not gonna go anywhere next year. Dickey IMO is no longer an ace but a suitable no.3 Buehrle will be Buehrle. That leaves 3 rotation spots and I will not gamble on Rogers, Redmond or even Drabek. Hutchison and Nolin are guys that can step in but they are inexperienced. I don't know what plan they have for Stroman.
  4. Does Stoetes still think the '13 Jays are still a good team? I stopped following him mid-way through the season after he kept saying this team had a chance. I couldn't take it anymore after he kept going "I told you" during our huge winning streak. To me he's on the same level as Wilner. Now that he's employed by Rogers you can tell he's kept under wraps.
  5. Can we just leave the attacks on his personal life out of this? He's a s*** player and below replacement level, but that's out of this conversation cause this isn't about baseball.
  6. Comon guys, don't pretend like you expected this. Don't be an armchair GM. You guys are doing the exact same thing with Yunel Escobar and Kelly Johnson. And Boni too. What are you going to arm-chair for next year? JP? Maicer? Redmond?
  7. They just signed him cause he's Canadian. Nothing special here. Let's hope we tank enough so that we can get that Canadian super prospect Gareth Morgan next year..
  8. Cubans are the same as Dominican - angrioter, can you give us a report on Guerrero?
  9. What a slap in the face to Darren
  10. I wonder if he will do this if the game is close or tied. Anyways, best scenario is to hope your CF bats in the 8th inning, pinch hit him with Mariano and then send him out to CF in the bottom half.
  11. Time and time again we've wanted the Yankees to financially suffer from bad investments, but they always seem to just shrug it off. I'd rather much have another team get hampered and set them back significiantly, like the Angels or Baltimore.
  12. I just really can't see it as a worthwhile risk. I mean, look at how huge of a bust Pujols and Hamilton have been..
  13. Cano asked for 300m from Yankees. He won't get it from them, but for sure he'll get it from the Angels
  14. Well what's the solution to this? I can't think of a situation where you could get a balanced schedule other than having a dynamic schedule that changes based on your current record. But we all know that is unfeasible and impossible due to logistics.
  15. I definitely won't be buying my flexpack. This season was the first time I bought one (10-games) and I quickly realized that the savings you get just aren't worth it, especially if your team is in a rut and you don't find yourself enjoying the game. I'd rather pay a 30% premium to go to a game that I know I will enjoy rather than save 30% and go to a game that I think will be more of a chore.
  16. Do people here expect to sign a 6 WAR second baseman or what?
  17. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/32-things-you-didn-t-know-about-baseball-072052860.html Very entertaining read, ignoring small sample size
  18. Don't 2nd guess now folks. Don't blame AA now. Blame Boni. 99% of the ppl here were happy he's gone. Just like how 99% of the ppl here will wish Maicer and Johnson will be gone. And of course next year they will provide positive value.
  19. Aaron "The Franchise" Sanchez retweeted: Dan Dakich ‏@dandakich 1h MLB Executives now figuring out about pitchers what everyone else knows?...THROW MORE..long toss..build muscle..babying doesn't work .Retweeted by Aaron Sanchez GET THAT AA?!
  20. Cabera is a good player no doubt. But he's still a wife-beater and a drunk driver.
  21. If you like this trade you better say it now. I don't like hearing people coming back here in a year and saying we never should have traded him away.
  22. Please please Maicer gets picked up on a waiver claim
  23. I hope Johnson feels better about himself. That **** cost Perez the rest of his career.
