    It's insane some sabermetrics whiz kids haven't devised a new metric that best shows the value of each player. And even if there is, it hasn't caught up yet. The past few years have shown just how weak WAR can be, from a guy like Carlos Gomez leading in war this year, or to Ben Zobrist a few years ago (though he still is massively underrated)

    Didn't read article but... A later deadline results in teams truly falling under buyers/sellers, as opposed to the current system where everyone is a seller due to the 2nd wildcard. So that's good in terms of the frequency of transactions. However, how about the quality? With a later deadline, you have a player for a shorter period of time. Will this affect the buyer's willingness to send a huge chunk of talent for possibly only 1 month of play? Should it even be a consideration, since the goal is to win the WS?

    Quietly having a pretty good season in limited AB http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=9627&position=C Only 148 AB but across a full season he would have +20 homers. He's also hitting a respectable .290. Yeah he's not a full-time catcher but no way is he as bad as JP.

    Not only that, but calling out Kotchman on his supposed injury, berating Matt Downs on working with another coach - that's 5 incidents in one year for a first time coach. I can understanding getting on the three players for the BP fiasco, but the way he handled it was just so aggressive and over the top. And then these two other incidents lead me to believe that he's just not fit for coaching.

And while Martinez is right, the guy sure does swear a lot and seems confrontational. What a shame.
