  1. The difference in your music is... you aren't playing music against someone else, your performance is 100% under your own influence, nobody is actively trying to compete against you. Pretty big difference.
  2. Duran might be on the move today - rumour is the phillies are not wanting to part with Painter as the requested return centerpiece. Jhoan Duran Trade Market Picking Up - MLB Trade Rumors
  3. Nice. Now get to the f*cking jet and leave this sh*thole city. Just hope the pilot is locked in or they might end up in Tampa.
  4. THat, was a nice slider for strike 2 on Adley. Need more of that
  5. One thing the Jays pitching staff has done to Hoffman somehow, his slider is just ... awful these days. spiking it ... way outside... he cant command it anymore.
  6. FFS. Here comes the Hoff. Hope he's locked in today
  7. Whatever happens here, lets get Straw one crack at that triple
  8. most of the posters on this board > Chad. i'd trust Spanky on a Friday night after a dozen tall-boys in the 9th over Mr Green.
  9. I meant no way to quantify a relationship. Its easy to quantify is a player feels good... you just ask them. And the answer is gonna be "i feel great" 99% of the time because athlete bro culture says you always say you're good to go unless you're physically unable to walk under your own power. It's easy to quantify results... you just look at the box scores. When players fail, the vast majority of the time they'll always blame themselves, because that's what they do. When they succeed, they generally give credit to others... pitching coach prepared my well, catcher called a great game, i just had to execute... blah blah blah.... point is, even when they truly do feel locked in, theyre gonna suck just as often as they shove, and theyll still shove on days when they dont feel their best because variance is a thing. What happens when both a hitter and a pitcher are both "locked in" ? One of them has to fail. So... i guess only one of them was really locked in and the other just wasn't? Why cant they just summon this mysterious locked in feeling all the time? And if your hypothesis is correct, someone who is locked in should almost always be able to pull off what they want, regardless of the opposition's intent. Your hypothesis only looks at one side of the equation, not other variables in play, of which there are virtually countless, especially in baseball. Hence, unquantifiable. So we, the fans, apply whatever beliefs we have to the situation to make something that can never make sense, make sense.
  10. Holy god Mullins is capable of making an out.
  11. And now Mullins, the magic blue jays killer this week. Fisher has 0 room for error.
  12. 24 pitches... 10 strikes for Yariel. That's no bueno.
  13. Of course players feel that way some days, theyre no different than anyone other human. Some days we all feel bulletproof. My point is, there's no correlation/causation to feeling "locked in" to performance. I'm willing to bet if there was a way to scientifically study what happens to every player on every day they felt "locked in" vs any other day, the same variances would exist. Humans make up all kinds of psychological stuff that isnt quantifiable to make themselves feel better about what happens in their day to day. That's how our brains work.
  14. yariel cant even throw a strike right now... and Cowser is up. I can't even picture a positive outcome of this PA.
  15. I know what Grant is saying, but it's like one of those things that can never be quantified. Like... use Bassitt as an example. A few starts ago he guts through 6 innings walks the tightrope, bends, but doesnt break and ends up giving the pen a break by eating up those innings. Some fans see starts like that .. the timing of them and make the leap that the pitcher was just somehow able to summon some extra fortitude on demand in order to clutch up. (not saying Grant is doing this... but we all know fans that do) Fast-forward to his last start and he got the sh*t kicked out of him, so it must be because he wasn't focused or wasnt trying. Same thing with Berrios. It's just that psychological projection that fans have with all sports. Its 99% made up and just helps fans either lay blame, or feel better.
  16. I really want Straw to get one more PA.... if there's a guy who can hit a triple in this dump, it's him.
  17. Get outa Baltimore please... pretty sure thats the city's official slogan
  18. Nice, though I woukd have expected Bloss maybe to have dropped to a 45+ or something. Hes shown poorly at the MLB level, and even at AAA before this injury. That's usually grounds for them to drop a guy a rank.
  19. After Helsley yes. To replace Hoffman is your interpretstion. Most times the acquired "closers" become the 8th inning guys ahead of the in-house closer
  20. They have one of the easiest remaining schedules so ... yeah, it would be wise not to count them out.
  21. Probably yep. I'm half erect now just thinking about the fun
