  1. Well wouldn’t ya know, Anthony Gose debuted as a pitcher tonight, chucking 100mph gas. Struck out Sal Perez too. Topped out at 100.8
  2. Okay this ump, called ball 4 strike 2….. this is a joke. Takes a run right off the board
  3. Lol, this ump has crossed from bad to just ridiculous. That call on Teoscar for strike 2 was beyond awful
  4. No kidding, Luplow has eagle eyes I guess. Those are really close pitches to take with 2 strikes.
  5. It's not dumb at all, the ump can't say whether a runner touches a base or not unless he is asked, or it's a play at that base that he needs to make a call of safe or out. Can you imagine the shitshow if umps said stuff while a runner was rounding the bases and a fielder heard "he missed second" from the ump?
  6. Ray brought out the changeup too! Dude is going for it tonight.
  7. But a beautiful drive! Right up until you get about 3/4 of the way through Manitoba....
  8. You must live in Red Deer then, it's the only other city kinda close in population.
  9. Ray threw his curveball again. Maybe we'll see it a bit more today. I mean, his slider/fastball combo is already lethal, not even sure what kind of voodoo he has that allows him to be a Cy young contender as a starter with just 2 pitches, but adding a third offering that isn't just a once or twice per game kinda thing and he'd almost never give up a run.
  10. f*** me, this guy is throwing 98-100 fastball and a filthy 81-85mph change. That's disgusting.
  11. Lethbridge Alberta, only 100,000 people so about the perfect sized city, except for the lack of pro sports teams in the vicinity
  12. Was more thinking about time rather than gas costs. When I leave work or home, I'm at home or work in less than 5 minutes. If I catch the one stop light... maybe 6. Add that up over a year and it's pretty significant.
  13. It's amazing when I hear things like this and have to think about how different life is for you guys in the GTA talking like it's not a big deal to travel 45 minutes to get to downtown. For me that's my total time to commute to and from work over 2 weeks.
  14. Do you know any details of what happens to the TV deal numbers if there is a work stoppage?
  15. Not to mention literally the wrong way to use literally in a sentence, like literally.
  16. It's a difficult question to answer. Any type of contract like that takes on enormous risk. However, I don't find any of those contracts to be entirely unpalatable for 1 main reason: in 10 years, is 35 million per year the going rate for superstars, or will it be even higher with increasing revenues? One thing that we know we can predict is that contracts #'s always increase over time, but the variable is... how much? Paying Tatis 35 million dollars per year 10 years from now may not be that big of a drain depending on where the $ per Win calculation is at that time - unless he's not playing at all due to catastrophic injury. That said, I wouldn't give Vlad that much. He's going to be a beast when he's young, but his fall-off-a-cliff value point is going to come much earlier due to his body type and the fact that he has virtually no defensive value already, let alone in 10 years.
  17. I’ve been away for quite a while, can’t recall who the savvy ones are and who the people are who still actually believe in batting average
  18. Eddie Rosario hit for the cycle today, and only saw 5 pitches. He hit an 0-1 double in the second, a first-pitch triple in the fifth, a first-pitch homer in the seventh and a first-pitch single in the ninth.
  19. What in the actual f*** kind of point is that?
  20. It certainly wouldn’t hurt. The fun part is though the Jays and the dome are a cash cow for Rogers even without massive in-person attendance for Jays games. Sure reduced attendance may impact the actual Blue Jays revenue, but all the additional revenue the dome and the Jays generate for their other brands is enormous.
  21. Always good to have proper context though
  22. It’s oddly great news that Springer went 0 for 2 in the 1st inning.
  23. It’s time like this I truly wonder what the players are thinking. Like …Jansen now coming up after watching 7 straight teammates get a hit….or Springer, having struck out and then watching 7 straight teammates get a hit. Does it even enter their mind?
