  1. Nah he’s got more than 5 seasons of service time, he would have to consent to be optioned. I’d rather have him on the bench than Espinal.
  2. Francisco was actually a pretty average 3B defensively until he cratered. He was no butcher by any stretch, though he did have a terrible 2013 with the glove. He also never played in MLB again after 2014 since he couldn’t hit a breaking ball to save his life.
  3. This is true, but…Ohtani is pretty much going to set the bar at a certain number AAV, and then other guys who only play on one side of the ball will basically have no argument to ever surpass whatever that number is, until years from now when the luxury tax levels have gone up and economic factors are different. I’d be fairly surprised to see him get less than 60 million AAV when the high test tier pitchers make anywhere from 35-43 million and the top paid hitters get 30-40. That said, I don’t know how a team is going to want to try and set up a contract so that IF he ends up no longer being able to play one side of the ball, something would have to give. I can’t see any team wanting to pay him 60 million without any kind of downside protection on his arm blowing out in 2 years and be stuck with an OF/DH
  4. Yeah sorry, i can see how my comment was a bit scattered there.
  5. Run prevention is how this team is going to win right now at the end of the day. It's boring as f*** to watch, but ... what can ya do. Everyone knows BIggio blows at 3B, and they obviously think Davis isnt good enough to man the hot corner either or he'd be starting there over Espinal. THe only defensible way to get Schneider in the lineup against RHP right now is to give Whit a day off which would allow Schneider and Biggio to play 2b/LF, start him at 3rd knowing he's not good defensively there - or just play him over Biggio at 2B. I can understand the arguments both ways for Schneider vs Biggio at 2nd, but dont know enough about his D at 3B to make an informed opinion there so I have to believe the FO knows what they are doing there in not starting him at 3b.
  6. They clearly do not have him as a good enough 3B defensively or he would be.
  7. Yeah, It's entirely unfortunate that Chapman is down right also, which means the left side of the IF is a pool noodle fight. He's just the odd man out through no fault of his own. I'd be sorely tempted to play him at 3B over Espinal though. I suppose the only reason they aren't is because they know he's not good enough defensively.
  8. Someone needs to show Vlad these videos as a quick reminder of what to do with middle middle
  9. I never would have thought a guy with his power output isn't even 6 feet tall. He's listed at 5'11"
  10. It's far less about Kirk out of that trio as he is back up to 93 wRC+ and still providing excellent defense. The bigger culprit offensively would be Varsho at 76, though again providing top tier defense and baserunning.
  11. Would it surprise anyone to know that as of the completion of yesterdays games, the Jays have allowed the fewest runs in all of MLB at 482, and the pitching staff has the 3rd most strikeouts?
  12. Lol, even the Nationals announcers were stunned ….”strike three called?” “Oh my goodness….that is awful”
  13. Would be the first tsunami warning in GTA history
  14. McLanahan confirmed for TJ surgery. Likely out all of 2024
  15. Definitely one of the factors. Not so much for the highest end high schoolers but the mid-upper guys for sure.
  16. No, there's definitely something wrong with him this season. Even if all he really was was the 2022 version he would be still be fine. Guys who hit the ball as hard as he does as often as he does should have better results. A slight tweak to his mental approach and rediscovering that pulling the ball in the air isn't a bad thing would do wonders.
  17. Y'all need to just f*** and get this over with.
  18. Keep in mind college baseball has never been in a better spot talent wise than over the past few seasons thanks to a variety of factors, not the least of which is the reduction in minor league levels and shorter MLB drafts.
  19. Yeah, but the last thing the Jays want to do is pay a 35 year old the going market rate for a 3+ WAR player(he’s on track to push 4 by seasons end…) when he projects more like a 1.5 WAR player. He’s babip regression away from being average to slightly below average without considering the possibility of other skills taking a slight step back as well. 2/25 with a third year team option would be my absolute ceiling
  20. Mariners lose to KC…lost 3 straight
  21. I wouldn't be thrilled, but yeah 2/25 would be within non-vomitous parameters
  22. Belt has always been good defensively, but yes, he’s definitely a bit of a mirage this season offensively if you dig at the numbers, his walk rate is the only thing keeping him propped up.
  23. 2/20 with an option for 12…something in that neighborhood. I get that on the surface he looks like a guy that should be worth more than that given his 2023 season, but at 35+ you’re certainly not expecting him to repeat this kind of season. If he came out next season and hit at 95-100 wRC+, would that be all that shocking? No. Make every effort to keep him of course, but don’t get caught up in this season being the expectation going forward
  24. That’s some next level flexibility right there
  25. Get him a cutter and he'll be closing games in no time.
