I think it's fair to say that we probably wouldn't have claimed Encarnacion on waivers had he not been on our roster previously. -

I remembered multiple rumours that Clayton Kershaw was offered for Halladay. -
It's funny how the person doing the hiring influences some people's opinions more than the hiring itself. I've noted on multiple occasions how similar (or the exact same in this case) moves that are praised now were widely panned under JPR or AA. Anyways, I like this move. It had to be done really considering our success in the past 2 seasons and his good relationship with the players.

For the great majority of Blue Jays fans, the fact that they are Canada's team is the biggest draw. Being in Toronto isn't really a selling point outside of the city. -
Many, if not all, of these changes were brought on by the players and not enforced by the league until they were already in common use. I expect that is what will happen with pitcher helmets, if the change is made at all.

I don't think that athletes and labourers are comparable in this conversation. In any case, safety equipment that protects against injuries that are so extremely unlikely is generally optional in any profession.

Pitchers are grown men and have the right to weigh the safety considerations in any way that they see fit. Changes in safety equipment need to start at the grassroots level.

It could just be me, but he strikes me as one of the most unflappable players that we have had in recent memory. This game means nothing.

I'm not that surprised. They had a pretty good SP and solid position players. Despite the WSBC rankings South Korea is nowhere close to the 3rd best team in the world.

Perhaps nothing, but they are going to give Smoak at least a couple of months so it's a moot point.

I don't think it's a given that Lawrie gets a major league deal. I like him as depth in AAA, but prefer Barney as the backup IF due to his shortstop defense.

The fastball is flat because he uses a 4 seam grip and gets a lot of spin. He almost certainly perfected that pitch because it pairs well with the sinking action on his changeup.

I'd be looking into an extension right now if I were the GM. With Estrada also a free agent, it makes a lot of sense to seriously explore it with at least one of them.

Pearce is still recovering from injury, so it makes sense why they are easing him into ST. Tulo can do whatever he wants to get ready so I wouldn't worry.

Will he even be a major league pitcher by then? The Lackey example is funny because they ended up with a horrible pitcher in Kelly and a bad contract in the minors.

The fact that they have to resort to fabricated stories to criticize me is a compliment. It's well known that the minor league games were televised. By the way, your insults haven't changed the fact that you are all wrong. John Sickels still has much more credibility than a random group of casual fans. I expect this to continue to be ignored as they focus on something else in order to avoid admitting their complete and utter stupidity.

I never said he was. I said that he's seen prospects in person, has more credibility than your average fan, and actually uses the criteria of 'best prospect rather than some random 'fantasy' criteria that ignores defense.
