  1. I love his defense, but 3 for 49 is not acceptable. I hope that we're still actively looking for an upgrade and won't hesitate if someone comes along.
  2. This 'eye of the tiger' cover is one of the worst I have ever heard. Why would they use that?
  3. Aaron Altherr is another.
  4. My best guess is Valdez and Coghlan
  5. I'd love to see Roemon Fields turn into something. He's a treat to watch with his Kevin Pillar style catches and outrageous speed on the basepaths. The bat will determine if he ever makes it up for an extended period.
  6. http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxo.aspx?playerid=5669&position=P&pitch=FA
  7. I would take the velocity with a grain of salt until a few others confirm it. He's also going to need command of a plus breaking pitch to have any sustainable success.
  8. His statement was so incredibly obvious (Pillar is probably #2 or #3) and the poster is known for outrageous statements. He obviously won't reveal what he truly meant now, but there was and still is some uncertainty.
  9. When you say 5th or 6th, do you mean out of any players in all of baseball? Mike Trout Francisco Lindor Corey Seager Kris Bryant Nolan Arenado Carlos Correa If that's the case, who is he more valuable than?
  10. I don't always agree with Zaun, but he couldn't be more right with regards to bunting. Guys like Goins should be ready to bunt. Square around early and get a good angle, you learn that in little league.
  11. That was horrific baserunning. He would have been safe by a lot more had he not stepped about a foot before first base and did a stutter step.
  12. They didn't come out and say that, but Jamie Campbell seemed to suggest it.
  13. I could see a good game getting him a few more days until Tulo is back, but I agree in general.
  14. I don't think it has changed recently. The 15 extra guys on the 40 man are on optional assignment. Otherwise, you would be able to keep these guys in the minor leagues indefinitely. Some players like Albert Pujols never used their options and still have 3, which I find interesting.
  15. Lack of range and mediocre glovework have always been the knocks on Bichette's defense. He's shown a strong and accurate arm in my limited viewings. If we are forced to move him, I think that 3B is the best option for his skillset. Right field is also an option if Vlad Jr. remains on the same developmental path.
  16. Aaron Laffey called up by the D-Backs. At least our pitching situation never got THAT bad!
  17. They had earmarked some over-slot money for Bickford and sandbagged the subsequent rounds to an extent in order to get some extra money. I think that's what he meant.
  18. I would normally agree with that sentiment, but not with this current version of the Blue Jays. The rebuild is already happening down as the minor leagues, as we most definitely have a top 10 farm system with a number of impact prospects on the horizon. There is no impetus to get desperate with key pieces like Estrada and Donaldson. With Estrada specifically, taking our chances at re-signing him with a pick as a consolation prize is still a good result for us. In the event that we contend, this is essentially the same team as last year that will require the same sort of additions. Presumably we will be mostly healthy and won't require a David Price type. We have the pieces to get a platoon outfielder and a reliever (or whatever) without changing our future outlook. I think it's quite clear that Atkins and Shapiro intend to stick it out with the Donaldson/Tulo/Martin core, while supplementing it on the fly with guys like Alford, Greene, Tellez, SRF, etc. and I'm fine with that. I've always thought that prospects developed better on a veteran team that wins, much like the Cardinals.
  19. I'm going to try to hit all 4 stadiums if I go. California holds little interest for me outside of baseball. Cold weather would be a nice treat for sure!
  20. He could definitely get over 30 on a 2 year deal. We'd likely have to go 3 to get him though, seeing what Rich Hill got last year.
  21. I have always avoided California because I can't do absurdly hot weather, but I will have to bite the bullet one year and go in September. I'll go back to Pittsburgh again before I ever do Arizona, Houston, or Arlington, that's for sure. Busch Stadium was very nice, but the weather kind of ruined it for everyone since it was like 40 C.
  22. Make sure you catch games in both Pittsburgh and Denver. I haven't been to every ballpark, but those two stand head and shoulders above the rest as great places to watch a ballgame.
  23. Over for who? The Central might be interesting with a strong Cards team and the Cubs house of cards wavering a bit. I expect the Dodgers to overtake the Rockies in the West, but the Rox could still make some noise in the WC. Who knows what the Mets will do?
  24. Superficially, the ballpark is great and it's a unique experience to be so tightly packed and close to the action. I enjoyed that experience immensely, especially since the Jays won Don't leave your seats though because the concession areas smell like vomit and urine, are cramped, and are full of garbage. For the women, you won't get into the washroom for the entire game. I can live with all that, it's an old ballpark and I hear that they have done some work since I was there in 2005. The fans though just ruin the experience though. As I said, they don't even know the basic rules of the game or any players outside of their own team. They also use more obscene language than I have ever heard at a game. It's not a place for children and we were a little afraid after leaving the ballpark, lots of threats of violence. My suggestion is to go on a Sunday afternoon getaway day. Take in a nice afternoon game, as you don't want to be in Boston at 10 PM. Then the next day, take an actual tour of the park. The history is overwhelming and incomparable, even better than Wrigley. Old Yankee stadium would have been close, but it's not the same now.
