  1. But this is the get it done league and it's not reasonable to expect an unproven pitcher like Sanchez to significantly improve his command mid season. Besides, he's already at 66 innings for the year and I don't think he's ever gone more than 100 innings as a professional. So in addition to command issues, he hasn't even been proven to be durable enough to be realistically expected to provide much value down the stretch. He is just not a very good pitcher.
  2. So he's a good pitcher because of his xFIP in the last 4 games, and although his stats are s*****, he's been unlucky and has the stuff to be great if he could only magically improve his command... Is that what you're saying?? Cause that would make you a f***ing idiot!!
  3. Just like Gibbons who uses Tepera in the 8th when down by one...
  4. Don't worry guys, we still have the bestest run differential in the majors!
  5. Yes, the media! That solves that. Either way, they need to fix the leak in the ceiling before redecorating the furniture.
  6. I'm actually not sure if that is true. They have a history of failing to recognize what the team's real needs are. Last year everyone but Gruber realized that the 2B position needed upgrading and they chose to do nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if they viewed Sanchez and Estrada as viable options down the stretch.
  7. Landing a "closer" should be a secondary priority for a team that has a rotation of Hutch, Buehrle, Dickey and a couple of band aids that probably won't even last 'til August.
  8. Pillar swinging at 3-0 is inexcusable.
  9. In honour of Moogy...RIP
  10. I'm sorry to have to say this but some of you are just too sensitive and insecure! Moogy might be a narcissistic ******* but he still brings more to the table than the majority of the people here. I'd much rather read his posts than the majority of the whining that's constantly going on here.
  11. Holy f***!! Fluffers is getting emotional again and whining like a little bitch!!!
  12. ITT: A sad old man feels vindicated and starts gloating after watching a replacement level player make a couple of nice defensive plays... Smh
  13. Listening to Boston media during the day and fantasizing of "sexual relations with Mike Wilner" throughout the night... mommy must be proud. http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/4298-Blue-Jays-asked-on-Papelbon?p=504488&viewfull=1#post504488
  14. Bautista still drew plenty of walks during his "none elite" days mostly because of his amazing approach at the plate and the fact that other teams still viewed him as elite and refused to give him much to hit.
  15. Absolutely incorrect. Jays haven't been winning many close games and that's when you usually see intentional walks.
  16. I was referring to last year when he was handed a starting job on opening day and goes on put up a wRC+ of 26 after almost 200 plate appearances.
  17. I find it quite ironic actually that you even have the nerve to mention JPA... The same guy who you countlessly defended as being young and able to improve, just as you've done with pretty much any marginally talented player that this organization decided to waste ABs on. I'm not sure why this is so hard for you to comprehend but simply put: handing starting jobs to guys with limited ceilings like Pillar and Goins (when you have aspirations of contending) is not a very good idea. That's not saying they'll never get better and that they don't belong in the majors, but your best case scenario is a 1-2 war player and the investment is just not worth the return. Pillar and Goins are both useful bench peices but this organization continually overplays its hand and ends up allocating full time jobs to guys with little upside. Then you come in and act like a cheerleader until such players fall on their face at which point you shamelessly move on to the next one.
  18. That quote is pretty telling on its own but then there's the fact that this is the same organization who has gifted starting jobs to guys like Eric Thames, Emilio Bonifacio, JP Arencibia and Ryan Goins. I think it's safe to say that player evaluation on this team suxxxx.
  19. Yup... "The big thing is Pillar has just been so good," said GM Alex Anthopoulos.. "For me from what we’ve seen, he’s one of the best defensive outfielders in the game right now." http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/castro-collapse-raises-issues-in-blue-jays-loss/
  20. 0 wins above replacement in 41 games = VERY VALUABLE Stick to making Adenhart jokes brah...
  21. Great, so Pillar makes a few flashy catches and he's suddenly labeled as "one of the best outfielders in the game" by AA and is handed the CF job despite his 59 wRC+ before yesterday's game. Then he hits a couple of HRs and now I'm hearing Gibby say things like "it couldn't have happened to a better guy" making it sound like he's suddenly discovered his hidden talents or something. This is a guy who hasn't proven to be anything more than a decent 4th outfielder and although his defence isn't bad, there's no way he should be viewed as a permanent solution at CF. I wouldn't be surprised though if he ends up getting a longer rope than JPA.
  22. What? This team does not suxxxx.. They might be missing a couple of elite starters, a few shut down relievers, a proven/healthy second baseman or center fielder and a couple of decent bench pieces... but this team does not suxxxx. All they need to do is fire Gibbons and replace Reyes with Goins and everything will be fine!!!
  23. Pillar was moved to center way before Pompey was sent down in order to "maximize his value". Obviously injuries have been a factor but this outfield was never deep enough to begin with and giving your only competent backup outfielder the starting CF job hasn't helped the situation. Anyways, I don't even know why we're going over this... The bottom line is that improving the outfield, or even more importantly the pitching, should be a much bigger priority than improving the SS position.
  24. I don't know man. If you've watched almost every game this year and still think that they've done pretty well, then I guess we aren't going to be agreeing on much. The pitching has consistently been one of if not the worst staff in all of majors and the offence, although elite in terms of the overall runs scored, have scored the majority of their runs in bunches and hasn't been very consistent overall. The weak division might give every team a chance at the playoffs but unless some significant improvements are made, this team isn't going anywhere the way it's constructed right now.
