Wait too long and Stro Show is gonna want to taste free agency. They should be working on hard locking him up before he looks like an actual breakout and not just a stretch of 5 good starts. Stroman is the kind of guy this board would be salivating over if he was on another team. Great ground ball rates, durability, seemingly untapped K potential. He’s the next logical extension candidate in my eyes.

I agree with you. The idea that everyone must be shipped off in order to continue the rebuild is exhausting. Stroman isn’t going to cost a ton, has expressed a desire to stay and is pretty low risk as far as pitchers go. I’d try and extend him for 5 years, buying the last year of arb and four FA years. I don’t think he would sign without the fourth year but who knows. That’ll make him a FA again at 33. Front load it a bit while the cash on the books is low. 2020- 14M 2021- 16M 2022- 16M 2023- 12M 2024- 12M 5/70M

If Montoyo doesn't hit him second or third he should be fired. Don't care about your lineup construction theories. Those are the only two options as far as I'm concerned. Get him up there in the bottom of the first no matter what.

Give me Vlad for 10 years and we can reevaluate then. He will be 30. He might not play well into his mid thirties, but I expect the first decade to be a pretty fun ride.

Over simplification. Scouts are needed to find guys like Groshans to be perfectly honest. There are no trackman reads or spin rates to evaluate at HS in Texas or Jucos in Florida. They get s*** on here a lot because guys always reference one scout somewhere who said Player A couldn't stick at SS. Just like any profession there are good ones and there are bad ones.

Shouldn't scouts be familiar with first round draft picks? The thought that this guy didn't know Groshans was a HS kid is mind boggling (unless it was on the back field and he was wearing number 69 with no name on the back)

I doubt you will. I don’t think many people care one way or the other- it just happens to be something I feel strongly about.

What do you mean by different levels? Different levels of discipline for whites/latinos/blacks using the N word? Or for words deemed inappropriate in general? Maybe I’m in the wrong but I don’t understand why the severity of this word should be lessened just because “you don’t get our culture”. Maybe your culture is f***ing backwards and you should stop acting like it should be treated as common practice amongst blacks only.

Don’t use the hardships black people ACTUALLY endured as a scapegoat so you can feel better about yourself acting like a donkey. You’re not oppressed. Stop playing the victim and own up to your mistakes. I wouldn’t give a s*** if Tim Anderson threw fists and broke Brad Keller’s nose. Throwing at guys because they mashed your s***** fastball isn’t right. But that doesn’t give you the right to call someone a n*gger, and it’s a special type of stupid when it’s directed at a white guy. And no it won’t leave teams with white benches. I don’t think I’ve ever heard latinos refer to each other as n*ggers. They’re not leaving the game any time soon.

I think it's a lack of preparation, both mentally and physically, a lack of desire, and a lack of focus when guys don't get bunts down. Nobody expects players to consistently beat the shift. But if you can't go the other way then f*** you, that's not my problem. Have fun hitting into the shift your entire career. You don't think big league managers cringe when guys make fundamental mistakes? If Kevin Cash wants you to get the bunt down, you better get the bunt down. If Terry Francona puts on a hit and run, you better put that ball in play, and preferably to the right side. Wouldn't baseball be fun if we just played it on a computer and simulated all the games?! Now THAT's a sport

I’m pretty sure the logos were only for the series in Mexico. St. Louis had them on their helmets too. Still dumb, but at least it doesn’t look like a full season sponsorship deal.
