I actually don't know; I think most teams just let the stronger/weaker arms dictate alignment. And other stuff like comfort and reps in each corner. I'm sure the Rays have some complex algorithm that they use each game / inning / matchup to optimize their defense. -

Way too early to say, Ray. He has been great but he could still end up as just a bench talent. It seems like he can handle LF just fine but that's not a huge compliment. -

This is absurd. No improvement in command based on what? Most minor league hitters against him these days probably take almost everything because they have no chance. A 4.2 BB/9 is perfectly fine. He dominated AA as a 20 year old. That's pretty nuts. So is 120 K's in only 73.2 innings, all as a starter.

Lads, Pittsburgh was trading for 3.5 seasons of cheap control over Archer. Not comparable at all to 1.5 seasons of Marcus Stroman.

Depends who you asked. Most people would have still considered Meadows to be quite valuable in context... I think he was actually performing well for Pittsburgh that year. Lots thought of Glasnow as a bit of a dumpster fire though. It would be similar to getting Frazier + someone like Jonathan Loaisiga or maybe Jordan Montgomery from the Yankees.
