  1. I don't think there was ever a war over McHugh or Gonzales. We were fighting over whether or not you are a plug. Since the war over BTS...
  2. Cullen Large too Dunedin has bats
  3. I mean, you are absolutely right. Most short guys don't make it because they literally cannot throw hard enough to make it because of their stupid f***ing little arms and tiny boy bodies. Like, they aren't even getting scouted in high school because they are throwing 79 or they are not getting scouting out of college because they are throwing 88 with no physical projection at all. Marcus is an exception because he does throw hard. After it becomes obvious that he is an exception, people should stop comparing him to the class of short people - it has no real bearing on his outcome. Short guys will also tend to have stupid little tiny girl hands, which can't spin the baseball the same way and have trouble throwing effective changeups. Anyway, my Pardinho post really had nothing to do with his height, just his age and distance from the majors and already having elbow soreness and stuff.
  4. Message board police reporting for duty. You can use command or control all you want. They are synonyms. Just don't try to say they are different things!
  5. He has an artisanal style of pitching that will only improve with experience. Like a fine wine. Similar to Marco Gonzales, actually. And Kyle Hendricks. All interchangeable talents.
  6. We should probably start thinking about when to start our draft Also, some day we need to get around to updating the waiver picks on the spreadsheet so we can track any trades of 2020 picks
  7. Brad will be there until the playoffs are over. Good luck charm. I'll only mention Merrill again if he pitches well at Coors tonight. I will definitely be starting him and I expect big things.
  8. You are the hero that this thread needed
  9. The odds that Eric Pardinho will make it to and through his first MLB season without a major surgery are what... 10%? Slightly better than that? Less!?
  10. Not sure I can agree with that. Trading Stroman might actually be the right move, so it absolutely cannot absolutely be the wrong move!
  11. Yessssss - my Merrill Kelly shade tactics worked! All mine, and right before his state side breakout.
  12. Spank, looks like you need to cut or promote one prospect. Lots of cut candidates!
  13. Kershaw clearly. Donaldson seems to be selling his strikeout soul to cling to any semblance of power remaining in his body.
  14. I think you're overcorrecting due to the fact that the Happ trade has not worked out so far. I love trades. Trades are great. More trades please!
  15. And it is super common for everyone around said players to emphasize how strong their college commitment is, as a transparent group effort to increase their leverage with MLB teams.
  16. Well to be fair, he still does have standout stuff. It's just more of a reliever repertoire. His Brooks summary is nice but it sounds like a power sinker/curve closer. Basic description of 2019 pitches compared to other RHP: His sinker has well above average velo and has slight armside run. His curve generates an extremely high number of swings & misses compared to other pitchers' curves, has sweeping glove-side movement and has a sharp downward bite. His fourseam fastball generates an extremely high number of swings & misses compared to other pitchers' fourseamers, has slight armside run and has slightly above average velo. His change is thrown extremely hard, has an obvious armside fade, results in somewhat more groundballs compared to other pitchers' changeups and has some natural sink to it.
  17. There is a recent Fangraphs article about his demise, which actually started in the latter portion of 2018. His average FB distance is way down and his readouts have changed. His correction won't just require regression to the mean. Seems like he does need to me some physical changes and find the old swing. Logan Gilbert could be the best player in this deal three years from now. I pried him from thehurl's cold, wrinkly hands and now Spanky has pried him from my warm, soft ones.
  18. Wow, Bellinger is already at 4.9 bWAR. He could cruise past a 10 win season.
  19. Spanky is getting Logan Gilbert and Hunter Greene in addition to Chavis and Adames. Hopefully Jose Ramirez isn't cooked!

How to cook ribs: 1. Place frozen ribs directly on a barbeque set to high. Coat in store-bought BBQ sauce while cooking. Cook for like 7 minutes per side, until black on the outside and not frozen anymore near the bone.
  21. I would think so. San Diego got a consensus top 20 prospect (Francisco Mejia) for Brad Hand last deadline. There have been a number of large returns for elite relievers in recent years. A superb prospect or a package of solid prospects is not out of the question. Giles is controllable for 2020 IIRC.
  22. Stroman to San Deigo continues to make sense. Toronto would get more if they deal Giles and Stroman separately. Giles should get an awful lot of action. I don't see anyone being all that interested in Aaron Sanchez. Big injury red flags and the performance has not been great.
