Happ has 1.142 years of service time. If they can live without him for ~6 weeks of something like that they'll maybe milk another year of control out of him.
But he's probably not good enough for Chicago to do that
Jesus Christ
And a double Jesus Christ for that TOS note. Had the surgery and found out after he didn't actually have TOS!? lol
Yeah Murphy is not a better prospect than Pearson hahahaha.
mmmm nah
you should probably assume he will start declining at 29. it doesn't have to be 1 full win a year for the first couple but I think by age 37/38 you should basically be "projecting" him for 0 WAR
Horrible timing.
The team was rocking and they've been trying to build up chemistry for weeks. I'm sure Lowry only had like two minutes of game time left and Nurse was planning on playing the subs for the entire 4th quarter.
I bet there is a decent case to be made that certain video games are beneficial to hitter development. Reaction time and recognition - stuff like that.
Holy f*** those are amazing.
I didn't even hear of Copa de la Diversión last year but that's a genius promotion. Most of the other teams have equally cool logos / names. Lots of merch will be sold.
Pretty simple gameplan - fastballs up all day.
Curveball does not seem impressive.
Seems like, at best, a reliever with a 60/50/45 arsenal but the fastball alone could be very effective.
Wow!
A nice move even if their main motivation might be a PR win, as that article lightly suggests.
I wonder how much this would actually cost them in dollars.
Bo had a nice at bat against Happ. The bat speed / hit tool allowed him to foul off fastballs up in the zone; the good batting eye let him spit on some close pitches and draw the walk.
Alford then demonstrated what Happ's fastball up can do to an inferior hitter. He swing through 2 or 3 of them and struck out on I think 4 pitches.
He's going to have to hit his way as opposed to what... a less "stiff" 1B?
Interesting that this scout thinks minor league pitchers last year weren't trying to get Alonso out.
