That's not a terrible point (we could certainly change one or two SP slots to P slots cuz 2020).
But this also gets at something else. If we do move, there are a lot of evolutions we could implement. For example, we could allow demotions if players IRL get sent down. This is something we didn't allow mostly because it would have been a pain to process on the spreadsheet.
There are a ton of other rules we could implement. We could nix the practice of adding injured players, for example.
I agree with the above comments about bridging eligibility rules through 2020. Seems sensible.
Honestly, the biggest issue for me is the DL roster locking being a premium feature. I don't care if it's only $4 a person, I do not want to have to deal with paying money every year for the league to function. It's not even really about the money, it's the principle and the hassle. And I don't love the non-solution of just not freezing rosters... I can't of want owners to have to activate players when they become healthy.
If we do end up with a dumb f***ing paid league we could at least use some neat features like allowing draft pick trading 2 years out.
I don't know. Maybe this is all more trouble than it's worth? #Regretxit
Maybe I am just kicking up all this dust to inflate my personal brand
