  1. Well, I hope nobody quits. You never know though. There are a few owners who are less active than others. Send a copy of your resume to our league secretary, Boxcar, and we will keep it on file.
  2. I already said that I understand why James Paxton himself might not have wanted it, but I've already been proven right that he should have had the procedure earlier. The conservative treatment didn't work. It was a s***** decision in hindsight to waste time on it. He is going to miss ~half of the season if he is lucky, and perhaps most of the season. This is his last season before free agency. He is 31. Missing a big chunk or 2020 will potentially cost him millions and millions of dollars. High level athletes simply do not live in our normal world when it comes to surgical decisions and interventions. You are not an elite athlete. I've never been gung-ho about anything in my entire life, so don't you dare accuse me of caring.
  3. I don't think James Paxton's goal is to barely make it through another season or two before becoming terrible and ending his career.
  4. The three way deal makes it a mess. Twinkies probably thought of Graterol as a reliever anyway so from their perspective he is what he is. Hard to imagine them ponying up more for Maeda when Graterol for Maeda was already arguably a bit of an overpay.
  5. LOD is a true dynasty where you keep everybody, forever (the definition of a dynasty league). DDL is a super deep keeper league but technically not a true dynasty. But we voted to change it to a true dynasty starting 2021.
  6. Marco Estrada's back issue shave been recurrent and career dampening. Not exactly a success story for massage and pilates.
  7. Well, the Yankees. I'm essentially just saying that I bet the team wanted him to have the surgery earlier but Paxton did not want to so I agree with your personal sentiments from Paxton's perspective. I'm really not sure what conservative treatment he could have even been trying. The effective treatments for disc issues basically just = opioids and injections. Physical therapy might alleviate some pain for normal people but for an athlete? Big doubt.
  8. Not sure it should be the Twinks. It might be the Dodgers that have to wiggle a bit. I bet they just absorb a bit more of Price's salary - seems like the easiest fix.
  9. That doesn't make much sense. It's a herniated disc and a cyst - yoga or whatever is not going to fix it. That article says discectomy procedures have a 96% return to play rate in baseball, which seems like an excellent rate. Nothing has a 100% success rate. Return to play from a hangnail probably only has a success rate of like 99.9999%
  10. The question then becomes - why the f*** did Paxton just have the surgery now?
  11. Several things going on with Verdugo. Most importantly he wears earrings, has a s***** beard, and people don't seem to like him. I think the projections are a bit high. There is also bust risk here right - he's a young player who is still not entirely proven since his playing time was so protected/structured with LA. So the projections have huge error bars in both directions.
  12. senseless
  13. Sounds bad. Good thing they kept Happ!
  14. He's a better asset in terms of surplus value, but not in terms of tempo. By basic surplus value analysis trading an 8 win player who makes $10M with one year of control for 12 one win players making the league minimum with full control might even make sense, even though it defies common sense. One elephant sized chicken would defeat ten thousand chicken sized elephants. Boston just shaved like ~4 marginal projected wins off of their competitive 2020 roster. There is a huge cost to that and it's not captured by basic surplus value analysis. That aside, I agree that the "bad for baseball" takes are largely bellyaching. The superstar went from one rich team to another; collectively baseball is just as good and the owners are paying out just as much salary. It's s***** for Red Sox fans is what it is.
  15. I knew Carlos could do it

You never know. Toronto won everything, in part, because the Warriors were banged up. Giannis could twist his ankle in G1 of the ECF. Even with Giannis healthy there is a small chance they could steal a game or two and pull of an upset.
  17. The first two words summarize their entire tweet.
  18. Fair. The DDL tends to wake from its slumber around groundhog day.
  19. DDL is to busy setting trends to make a bunch of rinky dink trades. Page me when any of the other 20 team leagues lead the charge on something like Yexit or the move to a true dynasty structure.
  20. Laika's 2020 Picks to Click (players who will overperform their projections significantly) TEOSCAR HERNANDEZ (2.5 WAR) LOURDES GURRIEL JUNIOR (3 WAR) CAVAN BIGGIO (3.5 WAR) CHASE ANDERSON (2.2 WAR) ANTHONY KAY (1.5 WAR)
  21. 75% of the LOD trades are Gibbers selling his 165 2020 picks for 214 2021 picks
  22. If he's hitting right handed then the dude has no ass.
  23. It's very interesting that Toronto turned to Yamaguchi and Rafael Dolis over some of these guys with recent MLB production. How Dolis and Shun perform will say a lot about Toronto's scouting/analytics/projection department.
