  1. If tasked with turning 34 year old Felix into a league average SP, I wonder what a modern pitch design guy would do. Probably just work on developing a four-seamer with enough spin to throw it up in the zone. With his secondaries + command that's all he would need to do to be effective, like a prime Marco Estrada. The problem with keeping everything down with (-) velocity is that when you hang 89 mph even two inches, it gets murdered. We'll probably see Marcus Stroman get bad pretty fast when he starts to really lose velo.
  2. Not a hall of famer? It's sad that his last few seasons were so atrocious, rather than just below his standards.

There is actually a quasi-legal, on ice function. The Captain and assistants are the only players who the refs will really talk to and explain calls to.
  4. Jim, the master of strawmen.

It was probably funny! He was 21. In Ontario where we aren't all narcs this wouldn't even be a charge.
  6. I'm like 14 years old so I wasn't even alive

    Cancel Auston Matthews
  8. lol, Jose Canseco is in the 40/40 club? Did not expect that. Man, how did Wade Boggs never win an MVP. Was never even runner up. His prime was PRIME. Seven straight years with at least 6 WAR, six of those years over 7 WAR, and four of those years over 8 WAR. I guess the answer is obvious.

Well hopefully he is forced to sell the team. Perhaps the most embarrassing owner in north american professional sports, and one of the saddest franchises.
  10. I would imagine that it's not some small investment of time and resources to put together a formal MLB contract offer to a big free agent. If it's patently obvious that Cole would not ultimately sign in Toronto, then no, I don't think Shatkins is under some moral obligation to make him a competitive offer. In that case they should focus their time and efforts on acquisitions that are at least remotely possible. To do anything else is just PR.
  11. You can set minor league eligibility to "any player can be put in a minors roster slot". I think that would make green flags irrelevant.
  12. Yeah maybe. In Yahoo leagues you can’t add/drop if the dropped player has already played during the current day. I think in Fantrax if you do that it just makes the add/drop effective as of tomorrow.
  13. So some unavoidable parts of the YEXIT would probably be: - same day transactions - the end of the waiver draft as we currently do it. this would likely change to one waiver claim day - a paid league or changes to the current way lineup locking works when DL players lose their DL status - stricter position eligibility rules in 2021, and in 2020 some sort of transition year where people can request commissioners change player eligibility Such a tough executive decision I have.
  14. Marco Gonzales had a strong season. What a reliable, valuable SP he is.
  15. They are dumb and creating a substrate of a false narrative in which Anthony Alford is more attractive to the organization.
  16. No I didn't notice. You'll have to do a gif side-by-side now that you brought it up (gifs or it didn't happen) I wouldn't put any stock in it though. Inconsistent players will have inconsistent mechanics.
  17. I have not looked at the data but Anthony Alford swings through an alarming number of pitches, particularly very hittable pitches in the zone. A swiss cheese swing from a guy with honestly, just average raw power.
  18. So happy for future Baltimore Oriole Anthony Alford, walking off his 2020 teammates last night
  19. You’re both right. His main flaws are defence and running. These are his glaring talent holes. Hard to fix. His main fixable flaw is the hit trajectory. It should be easy enough to fix. So easy that you can reasonably assume it will get better. Olerud is right that the groundball rate needs to be addressed. It could be a lot of wasted effort trying to get him to be a decent defender, but some attention to lifting the ball more would have big dividends. Orgfiller is probably right that Vlad already knows he should be hitting more dingers, it’s just not something he’s overly worried about right now. Hmmmm
  20. You have to pick the form of enforcement as "lock all transactions" and then the period delay as 0. In other words, if someone loses a red flag you can't even edit your lineup for that day unless you remove them.
  21. I think I saw the option but I'll look again later. What we would probably do as an adaptation is just have a waiver day, where the free agent players are all on waivers set to process on a specific day. Waiver priority would be reset at the end of the season to the inverse of the final standings. At the conclusion of the waiver day, we'd just reset waiver priority to the inverse of the standings again. So in effect the 5 round waiver draft would just become one waiver period. Owners could trade their general priority but not specific picks - they could, however, negotiate in advance for specific players (ex., if you land Kikuchi Jr. 2nd in the waiver period I'll give you Nuke Laloosh for him). With multiple claims, the teams with the highest priorities might end up landing multiple players at the waiver time. The rest of the 25 man rosters would just be filled out when free agency opens, rather than with rounds 3-5 of the current waiver draft (which are pretty meaningless if we are being honest).
  22. So no Yexit in BORED? For sure?
  23. Failure can very quickly change people. He's never failed before. The crux of this will be whether or not he considers his rookie season to be disappointing in any real respect. It's not like .276/.345/.444 is a line that screams failure. He actually has 2.1 bWAR, which is surprising! And I speak from experience. I am off-the-charts lazy and I was once considered a child prodigy in a number of things.
