    The best way to stroke a huge ego is probably to get a guarantee of hundred of millions of dollars. I think his previous statements about going year to year morph into an early opt out. Maybe he will try to get a long term deal with multiple opt outs... years 2, 4, 6, etc. Anyway, you sound a lot like the socialist fans who complain about player salaries being too high. My experience is that most humans, rich or poor or filthy rich, want to "maximize their earnings potential"

    Padres got f***ed. If Clevinger needs TJS that could go down as one of the all time damaged goods trades, particularly if any of Naylor/Quantrill/Arias/Cantillo turn into a stud. Seems weird that he would pass the medical parts of the trade.

    Why is it a good deal for a team as bad as Ottawa to trade for an RFA who could be a UFA in a year? They've traded for the right to overpay a goalie. Meh. (I don't know anything about the prospect they gave up. I'm assuming the pick isn't worth all that much. Maybe they paid very little, in which case it's fine.)

    It wasn't that bad because most of the players who got Covid were near replacement level anyway. They lost like, Miguel Rojas, Sandy Alcantara, and some s***** relievers for a couple of weeks. Mehhhhhh

    Their SP are decent and it's a good young core in the rotation but the bullpen is dumb and the position player side is just plain awful right now and doesn't even look great going forward. I think Jasrado Chisholm, Monte Harrison, Lewis Brinson, Jesus Sanchez might actually all be the same horrible player.

    Marlins: 26th in position player fWAR 27th in pitching fWAR (18th for SP alone) The only reason they were even close to a playoff spot was extreme random variation in a stupidly short season. Over 162 games they are possibly getting a top 5 draft pick again.

    Yes, they did pass. I will decide on an appropriate time and way to make the changes. I just don't want it to be a free agent free-for-all at some random time. I'll probably do it right before the NPD in the spring.

    Apparently the "show minor league players" option was not selected automatically when the league renewed. Weird. It's on now so the player database is correct.
