  1. Happy faces and cool faces mean the same thing.
  2. Gotta say, Tampa's lineup looks worse than Toronto's.
  3. Look at our diverse team. Koreans, Dominicans, a bunch of little white dweebs, and Randal Grichuk the resident white nationalist. #Proud
  4. The 2014 draft was bad. The first round had like, 5 clear hits. 1 Brady Aiken* 2 Tyler Kolek 3 Carlos Rodón 4 Kyle Schwarber 5 Nick Gordon 6 Alex Jackson 7 Aaron Nola 8 Kyle Freeland 9 Jeff Hoffman 10 Michael Conforto 11 Max Pentecost 12 Kodi Medeiros 13 Trea Turner 14 Tyler Beede 15 Sean Newcomb 16 Touki Toussaint 17 Brandon Finnegan 18 Erick Fedde 19 Nick Howard 20 Casey Gillaspie 21 Bradley Zimmer 22 Grant Holmes 23 Derek Hill 24 Cole Tucker 25 Matt Chapman 26 Michael Chavis 27 Luke Weaver
  5. And give up on ROwdy!>?
  6. Mostly because A. Rod has turned into a cliched broadcasting pumpkin and his lack of talent is shining through under his J-Lo brand cover up. He's no Tony Romo.
  7. No, this wouldn't be the case. I think the Canada Lands Company is the registered owner of the "Stadium Lands". See the map: https://en.clc.ca/sites/default/files/TorontoStadiumLands_Overlay.jpg Note that CLC also owns other lands around this parcel. Rogers would own a long-term lease with CLC. Rogers can't sell the land because they don't own it. In theory they could sell the lease... There might be a restrictive covenant registered on title that says the land is only ever to be used as a sports and entertainment stadium. This would have been registered when it was transferred from the prior owner to the CLC.
  8. Mooooooooooooooooooooooods!
  9. Andres Gimenez is not a legal add - we changed the prospect debut rules with the move to Fantrax and all the other league changes: I've dropped him to waivers now though so he is claimable.
  10. It does get too much s***. Some renovations like removing some seating and properly directing all seating towards home plate would go a long way.
  11. If there is a revolving door of Covid ILs all year long, maybe not.
  12. You know it won't be implemented well. Rob Manfred and Bud Selig announce every draft pick themselves. The opponent selection show will just be Rob Manfred in his basement pulling pictures out of envelopes. "With the first selection in the 2020 American League Playoff Opponent Draft the New York Yankees select... The Minnesota Twins *no applause or reaction*... The Houston Astros have the next selection and they are now on the clock *insert 47 commercials*" Also, the selection show is blacked out in 88% of Canada and you need to be a US resident of Florida to catch it on MLB Network.
  13. Tom Hatch breaking camp with the team, wow.
  14. Again, we see it implied in a report that MLB is being largely passive in this. I can't understand that incompetence. "Major League Baseball would certainly welcome it" --- are you kidding me, Manfred? You should be leading the problem solving charge.
  15. Probably has to be a state with a republican governor at this point. With a country and a state both saying no, there is a pretty strong precedent that other states will be hesitant to deviate from.
  16. I wonder if this was a silly training injury
  17. Very ironic that the Toronto Blue Jays, the team from the cleanest city of all MLB teams as far as Covid is concerned (if not the cleanest city then one of, and certainly the cleanest country) are the ones being put out by this. Really at this point this is an MLB problem and MLB needs to solve it. I'm hopeful they are involved - maybe they are leading the efforts - but the sense we are getting is that the Toronto organization is primarily trying to problem solve this. Why is Mark Shapiro talking about plans A, B, C, D, E, and F and we are hearing diddly s*** from the commissioner? What is MLB's plan B? Just let Toronto land wherever Shapiro can get them to land?
  18. Completely agree. Most teams don't ever get a realistic opportunity to lock in a true superstar like Mookie - that's a right acquired in the trade that is not captured by any normal surplus value calculation. The Red Sox look like a second rate organization now and their brand is tarnished. Bellinger and Betts is a potentially legendary tandem.
  19. You can be a diversity hire and be qualified. It's broadcasting, not sprocket science - there are hundreds of people who can call a baseball game so it is fair for a company to choose among qualified candidates based on their perception of audience preference. Her employers probably fairly think that there is some portion of their audience that reacts positively to having a woman in the booth. Lots of women and progressive men watch baseball. Women are infiltrating the game at every level, whether you like it or not buddy. She has also played at the highest comparable level of comparable sport that a woman can play at.
  20. She's not any worse than half the broadcasters in the league. I have always thought she was a solid broadcaster and pretty professional in the role. Broadcasters frequently get picked for reasons outside of their talent or merit - see the majority of broadcasters who are ex-players. Being said, I think she is good enough at the job to have the job. Sure, she is a diversity hire. I'd go so far as to say that calling Jessica Mendoza a bad broadcaster and stating that she was hired because of her gender is blatantly sexist.
  21. What is that supposed to mean?
  22. I was surprised to see him dropped. Then I didn't want to to use my waiver priority on him so I was surprised to see him pass through
  23. Lux has 28 days of service time. I guess the goal would be to keep him down for a couple of weeks so that at the end of 2020 he still is just shy of 1.000 Ruthless
  24. I don't really disagree.
