Toronto Blue Jays: Jay Allen, OF, John Carroll Catholic (FL) High The Blue Jays have been linked to Allen for a while now, having scouted him heavily during the state all-star tournament at the end of the spring. I’d heard them earlier on Florida senior Tommy Mace, but Mace wasn’t good later in the spring, and the Blue Jays don’t have a second-round pick (for signing George Springer) so going under slot here makes little sense; it’s far more likely they’d just go slot on someone like Tyler Black or Connor Norby than try to save some cash.
  2. Even if you think he's worth $16M he's still worth nothing in trade. I certainly don't think he's worth $16M though, because of demonstrated downside risk.
  3. Yeah, WAR is worth more in a playoff race (leveraged wins) but it's still not going to happen for Kris Bryant (who is on a projected pace of like 3.7 WAR). Note that I don't think Kimbrel is worth anything because of his poison pill 2022 vesting option, and Hendricks is also not worth much IMO given his contract. Manny Machado didn't even land a player as valuable as Biggio. I think they would consider trading Biggio if they are getting back a star that helps now and has some control.
  4. Biggio alone is worth more than than entire package. Not kidding
  5. It's also not even relevant because that's probably not the law in California. I kind of agree about Bauer's celebrity. Some people were complaining that the only reason he has not been charged is his status, but it could very well be the opposite for all we know, maybe the only reason the case is still open is his celebrity.
  6. This exact scenario was the subject of a Canadian Supreme Court case. The holding is that a person cannot consent to a sex act to be performed while they are unconscious. Basically, once the person becomes incapable of revoking consent at any time, their pre-consent is no longer valid. It's sexual assault, even if the woman literally said you can do X while I am passed out and all the man did was X. https://scc-csc.lexum.com/scc-csc/scc-csc/en/item/7942/index.do https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R_v_JA This case has been criticized. Fair to say it is controversial. Some people say it is bad law and actually limits the sexual autonomy of women. Three judges of the SCC dissented in the case.
  7. Cut him immediately as a political statement
  8. If anyone can listen to this Across Time and Space song start to finish, holy s*** you have ears of steel or whatever.
  9. Listen to the second one I posted there. So hilarious.
  10. I judge his specific perversion pretty harshly.
  11. * short-sighted and pathetic idiot who gets hard by smacking women around
  12. No, I now think he is a douchebag. That's confirmed.
  13. Meanwhile Yasiel Puig is just really annoying and nobody wants him. Also, Osuna is toxic because of a peace bond.
  14. Nah it would change things. Right now he has just been accused by a private individual. For all we know the accusations are frivolous and without merit. But if the State actually thinks there is a reasonable chance that he could be convicted of a crime based on the evidence then I think that alone changes things. And if he ends up being convicted of a crime that of course changes everything. The spectrum would read something like: - Accused by private individual but nothing happens = the lightest shade of grey; he probably should face no repercussions professionally - Accused by private individual and faces a civil action but successfully defends the lawsuit OR nothing is proven = light grey - Accused by private individual and faces a civil action and loses in some respect = darker grey - Accused and the State charges him criminally but he is not convicted = dark, dark grey because the state saw evidence they could reasonably convict him of a crime - Accused and the State charges him criminally and he is convicted = almost black; his MLB career should be over It will always be a shade of grey but there can be very different shades of grey. The three middle roads would be followed by something like "MLB and MLB teams should feel free to conduct their own analysis of the facts to determine whether or not they want to offer him employment"

And if you take David Savard + whoever else off the team Montreal still gets crushed. If Tampa Bay was forced to comply with the cap during the playoffs it's not like they would have been without Stamkos or Kucherov.

A pretty sad finals, really. Not much sport to it. Montreal didn't even have more than 2 or 3 good scoring chances that last game. Caufield's crossbar wasn't even a high percentage opportunity, just a great shot. Anderson's breakaway he didn't even get a good shot off. There may have been 1 or 2 opportunities in tight that Vasilevsky put good poke checks on.
  18. I'm not sure. They will be eyeing competition in 2022 and thinking that 2021 was a lot of bad luck. I'm sure they would trade Rogers and Berrios but I bet they would only do it for specific kinds of deals with MLB talent coming their way and those deals might not be out there.
  19. Was Matt Kemp injuries?
  20. Unless they trade from the MLB roster for pitching. That might open up space for Cruz. Could even be in one big stinky deal if Minnesota is adding pitching.
  21. hahahah I don't feel so good, Mr. Atkins
  22. I understand the slight preference for Bellinger based on demonstrated upside but both are young guys packed with tools, former elite prospects, who have performed at a high level. And one looks broken now while the other is turning into a pretty solid hitter. I don't see a big gap.
  23. Deleted two posts that had nothing to do with baseball, per the Board Rules. Leaving Nexii's post as the final word. It also has little/nothing to do with baseball but makes an important point. Regardless of your personal opinion on trans stuff, or your personal opinion on someone as deplorable and consistently wrong as Sheryl Ring, intentionally misgendering a trans person is a violation of our board rules, particularly rule #2, "No discriminatory comments or slurs". If calling Sheryl Ring she/her is insufferable to you but you MUST talk about her, just don't use pronouns or use gender neutral pronouns. This is the official BJMB stance on this topic.
  24. let the other people answer, jim
