  1. no.
  2. I love how the Toronto front office just does not give a f*** what fans think lol
  3. They sent $5M to Colorado for both seasons I think. $4,333,333 actually https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/payroll/blue-jays
  4. I'm sure they'll look at all LHH OF but I would imagine the best case outcome is to bring in a true CF who hits from the left side. Not a ton of FA options either way Benintendi is kind of fugly / boring
  5. Brandon Nimmo is Dexter Fowler change my mind
  6. If the plan is indeed to try and bring in a CF And if they aren't in on Nimmo There is not much out there in FA. Probably looking at the trade route or trying to get KK on a one year deal later in the offseason.
  7. it was salary neutral last year but they turned SOME 2023 guaranteed money into non-guaranteed money they basically - saved like $5M in 2023 - got Pinto - turned a negative WAR player in 2022 into a replacement level player (now that the season is done we can say it was a 0.5 WAR upgrade lmao)
  8. Oh damn Adam Macko looks interesting. 10. Adam Macko, SP Drafted: 7th Round, 2019 from Vauxhall HS (AB) (SEA) Age 21.4 Height 6′ 0″ Weight 170 Bat / Thr L / L FV 40+ Tool Grades (Present/Future) Fastball Slider Curveball Command Sits/Tops 45/55 55/55 55/60 30/45 90-94 / 98 Macko was a 2019 seventh round high schooler who was drafted because of his proclivity for spin and his physical projection. His fastball sat 87-90 mph during his first pro summer but was parked closer to the 92-94 mph range, topping out at 98, in 2021, though he’s been in the 90-92 range again this year. He’s got a scaled down version of the Clayton Kershaw build, with a thick lower half and short levers, but Macko’s delivery looks more like Ryan Buchter’s. His sweeping breaking ball, which he throws with his forefinger entirely off the baseball, is already plus even though it doesn’t have the velocity of your typical contemporary power-pitcher’s breaking ball, bending in at about 82 mph. But the flat angle of Macko’s fastball, it’s riding life, and the way his breaking balls play off of it (including as a back-foot weapon against righties) give him a power pitcher’s style. He’s struck out more than a third of the batters he faced during his pro career, but is still in a relief risk area as a prospect due to below-average command and repertoire depth. Macko is still just 21 and doesn’t have to be added to the 40-man roster until after the 2023 season, giving him ample time to show that he can sustain his peak velocities and polish up what he needs to and project as a starter. In the event that he does move to the bullpen, he projects as a late-inning option, especially if he enjoys a velo spike in shorter outings.
  9. The main point of this is probably to free up payroll space. Hopefully they don't blow it on someone.
  10. win by the way this means Springer is probably moving to RF and the team probably wants to bring in a pure CF
  11. Teoscar is only worth like $5 to $8M in surplus value so it could very well just be reliever(s) if controllable
  12. If it's for Chris Flexen alone I will kill somebody
  13. It's okay we have the new Pudge Rodriguez Alejandro "Pudgey" Kirk
  14. Maybe but if he wasn't on the 40 man that means they had to make a 40 man decision earlier. Maybe they thought that they would do it this way and then if he does NOT have a ROY type season they do get that windfall extra year of control...
  15. Yeah Rutschman would have been day 1 if not for a legitimate injury so the O's kind of sort of did not lose anything... kind of. The lost the opportunity to use the injury as a windfall to get an extra year of control, basically.
  16. I think one of Espinal, Whit, Biggio will be traded. Barger projects too well to keep him down all year. It's hard to imagine fitting all four of those guys onto the roster at once... unless Gurriel is gone and Whit is being considered a full time outfielder (which would be gross if true). For obvious reasons I think they try to flip Whit first.
  17. Yeah you can do awards based bonuses for pre-arb players now. I think ROY can be a bonus of up to $750,000 and there are higher bonuses for the bigger awards. I don't know if these are automatic or if teams are just allowed to offer that in their entry level contracts for players.
  18. I looked at the Cubs the other day, there is really no trade fit at all for Kirk or Moreno there. They'd have to package multiple top prospects which does not make sense for them.
  19. I guess the thought is that teams should not be rewarded with picks just for placing a random prospect on their roster, who happens to win ROY. The point of the rule is perhaps to stop the manipulation of service time for TOP PROSPECTS. The league and MLBPA don't care as much when it comes to unknown prospects. I guess. Still think it's so dumb.
  20. kindly shut the f*** up did you find a wife yet? any good deals in Tunisia? Maybe 30% off a lightly used floor model or something?
  21. "Service time manipulation Teams who promote players in time to receive a full year of service, which is 172 days — so, Opening Day, or very shortly thereafter — have a chance at additional picks in the amateur draft. (If an international draft is agreed to, teams can potentially receive international picks, as well). Players with 60 days of service or less, who have rookie eligibility and are included in two or more of the preseason top-100 prospect lists put out by Baseball America, MLB.com or ESPN, are eligible. If, in the time before they hit salary arbitration, those players go on to win Rookie of the Year, finish top three in MVP voting or top three in Cy Young voting, their team gets an amateur draft pick following the end of the first round. A player can only create one new amateur draft pick for his team over time. But if an international draft arrives, a team can get as many as three total picks: two international and one amateur, with a max of one such pick per year). A player who has rookie eligibility, opens the season with 60 days or fewer in service time and who is included on two of the top prospect lists gets credited with a full year of service, even if they were promoted too late on the calendar to otherwise have received it, if they finish in the top two in Rookie of the Year voting in their league. " this is from the Athletic I cannot find the full CBA anywhere yet
  22. apparently! for the prospects to qualify they need to be "top 100 prospects" which is defined as being ranked by two of BA, MLB, or ESPN.
  23. Strider was not a top 100 prospect! Somehow. lmao it's so dumb I truly cannot believe that "Jonathan Mayo likes him" is a thing with significance in the f***ing CBA
  24. Pretty bad. Toronto would save $7M to $11M but downgrade by a couple projected WAR. So they would never do that but maybe M's could add something to make it worthwhile. Winker + Flexen for Teoscar is a fun trade. Actually makes almost too much sense. Too much sense to ever happen.
