    bigger difference is that Manoah also threw like 125 innings in 2019 between College and the pros. That + his age makes any comp to Tiedemann not that appropriate.

    Baltimore reached big for Kjerstad (he was more middle 1st in talent) and IIRC used the money for Coby Mayo. In hindsight that was smart because the top of the draft was evidently soft and Mayo is a top 100 or fringe top 100 prospect right now. It basically ended up being a top 7 that draft. Meyer moved up because of talent/stuff popping, Nick Gonzales trended up because of production, and Veen was kind of always in the mix near the top. 2020 draft is the best illustration you can find of why the Cardinals are good. Teams were f***ing up on top picks while they picked Jordan Walker 21st and Tink Hence 63rd. Good f***ing lord. And Alec Burleson 70th. And Masyn Winn 54th. OMFG legendary draft for STL.

    I bet it's the same dynamic as Wacha Agent trying to push for a bigger contract He's an awkward guy to price. Really nice piece, can play all over, is young, good PD skills with a bit of pop But few teams want to go multiple years on a UTIL piece or bench guy

    that draft is looking pretty bad at the top the best player in the first round might end up being Jordan Walker (21st). Most of the top 7 picks have trended down. Mostly for performance, Meyer due to injury.

    Jan. 30: Wacha has been seeking a two-year deal worth roughly $30MM, writes USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. That would trail only Justin Verlander and Nathan Eovaldi for the largest two-year deal given to a starting pitcher this winter, and clearly Verlander isn’t a relevant point of comparison in this instance. Generally speaking, second- and third-tier starters who’ve signed two-year pacts in free agency have landed in the $16-25MM range over the past several years. good luck Wacha!

    Wow the Rangers worked some magic to get these guys all on minor league deals. Insane. The Rangers announced this evening that left-hander Danny Duffy and outfielders Clint Frazier* and Travis Jankowski have signed minor league deals with non-roster invitations to big league camp. Texas also confirmed previously-reported minor league deals for Reyes Moronta and Ian Kennedy.

    Stang - only piece of advice is take your time with trades. Reach out to a board member who is not in BORED if you want to see if a trade is fair or foul.

    No way. They would be burning Biggio for such a tiny upgrade.

    It's nice to hear good things about Dasan Brown. At a minimum, you are probably looking at a Jonathan Davis clone who makes the major leagues at 22 or 23 instead of 26 and stays with the org through his three option years, as the 5th or 6th OF on the depth chart. The K rate is concerning and likely a kiss of death. Defense is funny. Lots of players get scouted as exceptional defenders and then come up as average ones, and vice versa.

    It's not even a horrible top 10 Stud at the top Barger an underappreciated stud Pearson and Macko at 9 and 10 looks nice...

    personally I can't wait for some fat awkward reliever to pull a Chad Qualls and somersault over the fence onto the field

    The main point is fan experience bringing the bullpens up is cool bringing the seats to the edge of the wall so every HR lands in someone's lap is cool having a slightly non-uniform OF wall adds some excitement too tbh it seems like the baseball considerations of these changes were not really high on the list of importance
