  1. Straw blows though
  2. I think they can DFA Straw and outright him though. Nobody is claiming his salary
  3. Gallen agreed to $14m being heavily deferred so he lost millions and should have taken the QO I was shocked he turned it down. Was brutal last year and his stuff is down big. Poor decision, poorly advised.
  4. Boring move but it raises the floor and the ceiling a bit. It mostly bumps Lukes to the bench which is a lateral move on paper given some projections, but Lukes has big error bars on his projections and they might mostly point down given his age and profile. Like, he's not going to hit .300 and be a 3 win LF. Sanchez has 2000 MLB PA so his projections are way more solid. And he is younger with a more interesting profile under the hood, so the error bars on his projections might point up. He could be a 3 WAR slugger. Or he could be worth 2 WAR while platooning (probably the goal). You feel much better as a team if the Lukes platoon is your plan B and not your plan A.
  5. Yordan DH they said Altuve will mostly be a 2B this year
  6. what, you don't like an OF of Zach Cole, Jake Meyers, Cam Smith, and Joey Loperfido?
  7. okay lol ZiPS thinks the talent is a push but every other system does not like Loperfido now someone needs to get optioned
  8. Manfred should veto that
  9. 2026 the year of the HAMATE! Carroll, Lindor, Holliday Westburg oblique Get fukt, Baltimore
  10. It's sad for him how it is going but the projections are down hard on him and for good reason so it is what it is
  11. Getting tunnel vision and caring about "offense" is how the team made the Santander mistake signing to begin with They shouldn't care about the "offense" they should care about wins, or run differential. It seems like they know this now. I bet Atkins is privately relieved that Santander is out because the team projects better without him LOL it's sad but true. Lukes/Schneider platoon is probably better than Tony Titties on both sides of the ball.
  12. Lots of signing and news last couple of days! Lindor needs hamate surgery Verlander to Detroit
  13. Schwellenbach elbow pain, 60 day IL to start the year Damn. He might be cooked.
  14. If his hair wasn't a bit longer you could question whether or not they were taken on the same day It is amazing how fat he can get. Amazing how his baseball talent is just PURE genetics and baseball IQ (ignoring baserunning) since he appears to be a bottom of the barrel workout guy. He basically gets fat and sloppy and then pays a PT for 8 weeks in the offseason to help him lose 15 lbs and add 10 lbs to his bench press. Remarkably divergent as far as modern professional athletes go. Might as well be smoking and eating hot dogs during the games. OR on the flip side, people just hyperfocus too much on aesthetics when it comes to physical preparation for some sports. Body fat can be beneficial, especially for recovery and generic human health and of course strength athletes are always "fat" and a lot of what he does (hit ball hard) is an exercise in strength. Maybe too many guys these days try to look like underwear models and then just blow out their obliques every year or come back slow from every injury (Tyler O'Neill)
  15. I think what their plan will be with Bieber is to slow walk him through the first leg of the year with the ultimate goal of having him fully healthy and firing on all cylinders in the fall. Essentially, the Dodgers approach with some SP. I doubt the team cares about his IP or GS totals in 2026. And Bieber probably has no illusions that he is going to get paid as a workhorse anyway so 140 quality innings will look better for his free agency than 180 innings where he gets rocked a bit or ends up hurt. So, b) from your list will be closer to the truth but the first and second halves of the season may be quite different.
  16. Only really interested if he's cheap and will be going on the 60 day IL until summer for some phantom injury.
  17. Red Sox To Acquire Caleb Durbin By Steve Adams | February 9, 2026 at 8:26am CDT The Red Sox are acquiring infielder Caleb Durbin from the Brewers, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. Milwaukee receives a three-player package including lefties Kyle Harrison and Shane Drohan as well as infielder David Hamilton, Passan adds. Boston is also picking up infielder Andruw Monasterio, catcher/infielder Anthony Seigler and a Competitive Balance Round B pick, per Will Sammon of The Athletic. Weird trade!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Basically every worthwhile remaining FA is a pitcher. By projected WAR the top 13 left standing are SP. Gallen and Bassitt through Corbin and Mikolas.
  19. Buck on the LOE is weird for me He was not a good announcer, for a long portion of his tenure, and was the butt of many jokes His play by play was awful lol
  20. Decent turnout. That's Matt Davidson in the DH spot. Maybe Black gets those PAs though. Sucks to not see Freeman, Brash, Pivetta, Cade Smith, Sabrowski and I guess even Romano. Jonah Tong was a long shot. The bullpen looks very weak.
