  1. Have to think he will get a long look this year.
  2. Yeah. One minor setback and he has no chance.
  3. Or Tiedemann and Kikuchi in the rotation. 6 man rotation or Bassitt/Berrios going to the pen. Just need Tiedemann up.
  4. Imagine a bullpen like this: Romano Green Pearson Kikuchi Swanson Garcia Mayza Pop/Richards With Tiedemann in the rotation. One can hope
  5. Eno Sarris always says "if you follow Stuff+ too strongly you just end up with a bunch of relievers" A bunch of the nuance to being an effective or good SP is just not captured by the model It's meant more to replace or supplement scouting grades on pitches than anything. Not really meant to be a way to VALUE established pitchers.
  6. Yeah it being on Fangraphs now is going to cause a lot of people to misuse it, I think For any established pitcher you don't really care about it that much unless you are trying to analyze a change (new pitch, injury, etc.) It also has many admitted flaws. It struggles with changeups, for one thing, and that has a particular relevance for Luis Castillo. I think Castillo's fastball does not actually have a great "shape" and he is a guy who derives a decent amount of effectiveness from command, also.
  7. He has seemingly had multiple outings where he has done nothing but give up line drives and hard flyballs He might need a phantom IL stint to find his form, at least
  8. FisherCats have the worst OPS in the EL 8th of 12 in pitching ERA Dunedin = worst OPS in league But best ERA in league Canadians 4 of 6 in OPS Worst ERA in league Bisons worst OPS in the IL 15th of 20 in ERA Just a nightmare minor league season so far. Three of four active affiliates have the worst team OPS in their league. And only one has an above average pitching ERA. lmao.

Also, buddy tripped Doughty on the one Oilers goal... But still the Kings blow and have no business not getting blown out the rest of this series. Can't believe they won two games.
  11. What do you mean I love having nothing but vet middle relievers with no options So the pen is average at best yet the team also somehow has no room for a healthy Nate Pearson
  12. It's just a model The projections don't benefit from "watching" him play and seeing how pathetic he has looked for an extended period of time He still projects will because he used to be a fantastic player in several ways

You guys, the NHL playoffs are SUPPOSED to be grueling. That's why winning the Stanley Cup has more significance than winning the major trophy in any other major north american team sport. You're missing the point is and just fundamentally not understanding the sport / history of the sport if you think the nature of the games changing as the playoffs go on is a bad thing.
  14. Most of the time the team makes the correct choice when pulling the SPs quickly. We just tend to notice/feel it much more when it goes wrong. Today, however, I fail to understand why Manoah would be removed when it was the BOTTOM of the order coming up for the third time. If he failed to get through the inning clean and the lineup turned over again and it was Volpe/Judge coming up the fourth time through, then I get it. But they already let him face the top and the meat of the order a third time, and it's not like he was tired or showing any signs of decline... I really did not get it today. It also does not help that Toronto just has Romano and then a bunch of middle relievers... so they are almost never going to a relief Ace...
  15. What a joke. Why take Manoah out with the bottom of the order up? How did they cash no runs today.

The playoffs are better though. You guys sound like coping Leafs fans.
  17. Yeah it's pretty brutal. Nobody expected the Rays to get off to this start, offensively. They had a 101 wRC+ last year... they hit 139 home runs. This year they have a f***ing 157 wRC+ and they have hit 42 home runs in just 19 games. And it's a TEAM effort. They have f***ing TWELVE different players with at least 2 dingers. Toronto has FOUR. Four. And one of them actually sucks so far (Springer). The Rays have actually been so f***ing good with the sticks that you have to wonder if they are stealing pitch-com frequencies or something.
  18. Rest of season projections: Jays 78 wins Rays 79 wins Yankees 80 wins With the Rays hot start the Jays need to make up like 6 games on the projections. And leapfrog the yankees. 15.3% chance to win the division.
  19. If you are saying that you doubt they "have a chance" then you are pretty stupid. Cheers!
  20. Oh yeah, xe is horrendous.

Wow. I know there were rumours but it's still a bit jarring. However, hard to watch them play this season and not blame Nurse for a lot of it. It seemed like he had checked out mentally at some point.
  22. If the traits don't exist how does he have them??? Is he a ghost or something A transdimensional pitcher?
  23. The nice thing about not investing money in the pen is that you CAN kind of use and abuse most of your relievers. Most of the RPs in the pen, the team probably should just ride into the ground. The exceptions might be Romano, Swanson, and Mayza. Romano because he is the only elite RP, Swanson because his effectiveness + years of control make taking care of him worthwhile, and Mayza because of his function in the pen and organization depth. Like, I don't care if Cimber throws 80 innings this year and neither should Cimber or the Blue Jays. If Anthony Bass goes down in August from being overworked, so what. Pop has 5 appearances this year with less than 1 inning pitches. And depending on how he is getting outs, he might be a guy who you can use often.
  24. I think someone desperate for innings will pick him up. But that could end up being his last team. Some team like Detroit, Oakland, Boston... Colorado... maybe even the Mets with all their injuries.
