  1. just f***ing demote him call up Kloffenstein
  2. f*** year, three walks in two innings vintage Womanoah on the bump
  3. Double play yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
  4. yeah that's a horrible signature
  5. I dunno man. It would be hard for me to pull the trigger on that.
  6. If connorp was in charge Trevor Bauer would be a Blue Jay on an MLB deal right now ignoring connorp is a good starting point for most things
  7. Still, it's nice to see them succeed after making some aggressive signings. Also, good example that you don't really need an elite farm system to churn out production. A couple of years ago their farm was getting ranked in the bottom third of the league. Now a lot of their production is coming from young players they have continues to develop... or that they have acquired recently. Garcia, Heim, Lowe, Duran, Taveras, Jung, Smith are all either farm products or shrewd trade acquisitions. And they all have at least 0.5 fWAR right now.
  8. The Rangers have had just about the softest schedule in the league so far. Philly, Baltimore, Cubs, Royals, Astros, Royals, As, Reds, Yankees, DBacks, Angels, Mariners, As, Braves, Rockies, Pirates. Lots of gimme series + a few against mediocre teams like Angels/Mariners/Philly/DBacks
  9. I thought he was an infielder!? Maybe one of those 2B only types who even sucks at 2B. That would help explain it.
  10. Imagine being this Michael Busch guy in LA. 25.5 years old now. In almost every other organization he is perhaps an MLB starter in 2021, or at least to begin 2022. But now he's just some AAAA guy with no path to playing time. Toiling away, hoping for a trade or catastrophic injuries.
  11. yeahhhhh but there is a lot of wiggle room in that bucket he could sit 91 but touch 94/95 on occasion with good shape and have an effective fastball. particularly if he only has to throw is 40% of the time because the secondary pitches are plus. yeah, that might not be a ceiling higher than an SP5 but Toronto will take any kind of MLB projection from him at this point
  12. One of the only good stories on the farm He has gone from somebody not even on the depth chart to one of the more interesting call up candidates
  13. Ernie Clement is going to take Espinal's job... immediately
  14. I used to call this the Kevin Pillar problem. Sometimes a guy would be a better hitter if his hit tool were worse. Pillar used to make too much contact, much of it weak, but if he just whiffed a little bit more he would have ended up with more walks and homers. Same issue with Vlad...
  15. It could be mechanical or hit tool related. His IFFB% since 2021 is 4th highest in baseball (qualified). Those are as bad as strikeouts. That could be a swing path issue, or just basic hit tool issue that doesn't manifest purely in strikeouts. Some of the other high IFFB% guys are: Santander, Carlos Santana, Kike Hernandez, Arozarena, Chapman, Bellinger, Schoop, Profar... some good hit tools in that list but also some fringe hit tools. For the most part these guys have trouble hitting .250 or better. Also, Nolan Arenado and Jose Ramirez show up on the list. Kind of interesting.
  16. The annoying thing is... You just KNOW he is going to sign in some random place like Chicago for his prime and end up winning an MVP or two in a different uniform Vlad 2027 = 50 HR season at Wrigley
  17. Vlad remains pretty disappointing. Could have been Miguel Cabrera but it looks like he's just a Manny Machado type hitter, without any defensive value of course. Fat Manny!
  18. Toronto doesn't even control him for his age 27 season so... we need him to be great NOW
  19. The Varsho trade... It's kind of like trading for a GG SS then playing them at second base. A lack of developed talent + hyper-focusing on team needs = Atkins twisted himself into a pretzel.
  20. How long term? Lowe is the 2-3 year option but Vaughn is the one of you aren't competing right now
  21. Bauer reiterated that he and the batter met on the Japanese version of Tinder before the game and discussed this type of interaction. Bauer explained his kink for surrendering barrels and facing extreme forms or public humiliation.
  22. I'm not sure how anyone can sincerely think JS is the issue.
  23. It's been a bad few weeks.
