  1. Sure, but it's still going to be a horrendous result.
  2. Horrendous trade. Spencer Steer + Christian Encarnacion-Strand + Steve Hajjar. For 9 mediocre starts from Mahle.
  3. I'm not worried about the Blue Jays to that extent. Yeah the farm at this precise moment in time does not look good but that can turn around somewhat quickly. The front office has also shown a continued ability to improve the MLB team, swing creative trades, etc.
  4. not enough power more likely, he is some kind of platoon player on a cheap team. he'd be a nice Oakland A for exactly three years (his cheap season).

Of course they are good if they are still playing but the franchises are hard to cheer for

Yeah these teams suck. Some might say that it's good for the NHL to have the expansion teams still in it along with multiple southern franchises that have struggled historically but... I dunno. Feels pretty stupid. A Florida, Carolina, Seattle, Vegas final 4 is a nightmare for any real hockey fan. Just nothing to grasp onto.
  7. Manoah is like... Brad Keller or Zach Davies bad. Those are his new peers.
  8. He f***ing sucks. Mediocre FB, horrible command, and no effective slider.
  9. Yeah you cannot demote him because there is no replacement. Unless little Mitchy White comes back and is throwing gas (lol).
  10. I do it all the time but not for a guy like Semien Renfroe I play matchups with in the DDL but that's because I have seven f***ing outfielders I feel like if your roster lets you platoon Semien then you might as well trade him because he's a locked in starter for someone else...
  11. his numbers are insane and really, they always have been. only blemish is the K-BB rates
  12. dude suddenly seems his age
  13. If Shi is not misspeaking there then that might be more concerning than basics biceps inflammation. Because that might mean it has more to do with the biceps tendon that attaches to the shoulder. "biceps tendonitis of the shoulder" or something like that.
  14. gonna call him Wan Kyoto now
  15. Hard to see it but I guess there is a chance, if he keeps this up and ends up with a 3 WAR and/or 25+ HR season.
  16. Long season remaining but the trade looks great for Arizona. That doesn't necessarily mean Toronto loses the trade. It just means that sudden and decisive outcome that was a possibility on their end, where Moreno busts and Toronto just wins the swap outright, is certainly not happening. Because Moreno looks like a stud. He's going to hit .300 this year with no power and be a 2 WAR catcher. Then he's going to learn how to poke enough homers to be JT Realmuto from 2025 onwards. Gurriel is whatever. If he has a good walk year with the Diamondbacks, good for him and them. But he didn't have any substantial value at the time of the trade IMO.
  17. What better MLB team to play in ENGLAND than the only Commonwealth team in the league? Do people in St Louis, Chicago, New York, or Boston have the Queen mum on their moneys? Poutine is basically just beans on toast if you squint. Or bangers and mash, more like.

What do you mean? Samsonov played the bulk of the minutes and his GAA/SV% track with the team's goals allowed ranking. Toronto was 7th in GA but functionally tied with 11th place Vegas (five goal difference). I don't think Toronto was a "top 5" defensive team unless you are looking at some fancy stat. Boston was #1 and then there are like 10 teams basically tied in that second tier.

To me, Nylander just seems like the least talented all things considered. I don't know what the fancy stats say about Marner and Matthews but I could see them being, or at least having the capacity of becoming, better two-way players than Nylander. I dunno.

Fools gold. Most "elite" NHL goalies are just the byproduct of the elite defense in front of them. Very few exceptions.
  21. It reads like punishment I wonder if Contreras got into a tit for tat with Wainwright or something like that
  22. I could buy that he is a below average catcher or that he is not amazing at the hard to quantify catchery leadership stuff. But bad at it to the point that he needs to be removed from the position? It's just so weird. And it doesn't seem like a sensible way to get a positive response from the player
  23. It's also just quite clearly ******** They have been rolling with Jake Woodford (swingman with 4.75 career FIP), Jack Flaherty (4.97 FIP in 2022) and Steven Matz (5.25 ERA in 2022) 3/5 of the time. You can't put those three SP behind two mid-rotation pitchers and expect success. Mikolas has been bad but his K and BB numbers look fine, so I think it's just noise. Montgomery has been good. It's a dogshit rotation and the GM should be embarrassed.
  24. I find it hard to believe that he is THAT bad If he is, why the f*** would they sign him...
