  1. Yeah I'm not sure that was actually correct by the clock operator, or the ump. They are probably told that the clock runs unless the umpire calls time. But if an ump steps away to get balls or whatever isn't that effectively time? I dunno. Like, if the pitcher cannot actually throw a pitch if he wanted then the clock should not be ticking down.
  2. Lukes can only blame himself. He was taking a lap, fixing his hair, and saying five hail maries after every foul ball. Just stay in the box, lol.
  3. If you are watching on GameDay Kikuchi looks pretty good again. The first BB had some close pitches. Second one, he lost command of his slider. The "lineout" of Smith-Njigba was actually a normal flyball. He made Austin Hedges look stupid. Some nice changeups today. Popping 96+ on the FB.
  4. I can understand why Lukes thought the clock wasn't running But, just one of those spring training learning experiences about how the whole thing works
  5. Nathan Lukes strikes out on an auto strike!

  7. wait, how could we forget Sam Cosentino?
  8. just wait
  9. Duane Ward was a monster. He kind of... sacrificed the longevity of his career in order to be a bulk reliever in his 20s. I bet if you look at his game logs you'd see some spooky stuff. Like pitching 2 innings three days in a row, or throwing 55 pitches in relief then only getting one day off, haha. Or pitching, I dunno, 19 games in 30 calendar days or whatever.
  10. In 2008 the Toronto Blue Jays were on track to have ZERO players hit 20 home runs. Vernon Wells was sitting at 18 going into the final game of the year. He would hit two home runs that day, driving in 5 runs in a 10-1 win over Baltimore. Legend.
  11. What would the reasonable list of candidates be? Key Clancy Guzman Henke Hentgen Barfield Wells Moseby Encarnacion Olerud Whitt Donaldson White Alomar McGriff Shapiro Atkins Wilner edit: Roger Clemens should be here if Donaldson is edit: Duane Ward sacrificed his arm for the Blue Jays
  12. Really, I think once you exit round 1 (and honestly, most of the time only the top half of round 1) the drafts in our deep dynasty leagues are close to flat. Like, the returns on the typical 2nd round pick might not be meaningfully different from those on 4th round picks historically.
  13. Okay, go try to trade one for anything other than a cut candidate or mediocre reliever They only periodically have some tiny bit of value
  14. it doesn't matter, they are still basically worthless
  15. Is Tiedemann pitching tomorrow? Apparently his 9 fastballs from outing one registered a 121 Stuff+. That's elite, but need a sample size of 20+ to be meaningful.
  16. 2nds are worthless in 20+ team leagues

He should be back. He has done everything he can. Their issues are mostly related to the tendencies of their core players (too offensively slanted)
  18. Tiedemann and Painter have equal talent so Ricky is the easy choice now
  19. Having to deploy four infielders on the dirt already eliminates the most extreme outfield shifting which was deploying four outfielders Last year teams would have had three infielders to the right of 2B and four outfielders against Gallo The picture above is much easier to hit against for a guy like Gallo Not to mention on most teams that shallow OF in RF has no infielders skills so they probably wouldn't have high success rates on scooping up hard grounders cleanly and making that throw
  20. It's too bad But a good reminder that sometimes taking it easy on really young prospects is a good thing Who knows how he trained in the off-season. May he threw too much, thinking he could win a spot Hopefully it's just a short no throw period and recovery
