Isn't that a massive overpay for Ekholm?
  3. bla blah blahb mate, he literally has plus stuff on two pitches and gets whiff with them that's not smoke and mirrors
  4. command has been so bad historically that I think he's been up and down between their minor leagues, every year. On BR, JPCL is the main NPB "Central League" and JPWL is one of their minor league circuits, the "Western League"
  5. honestly why even have Tiedemann pitch in the minors he can probably throw like 130 innings this year just put him on a plan to throw 100 as a SP then finish out the year in the pen
  6. Robberse is throwing 93-94, that's decent for him isn't it?
  7. i won't worry about Bassitt's velo until April i won't worry about Bassitt's velo until April i won't worry about Bassitt's velo until April i won't worry about Bassitt's velo until April i won't worry about Bassitt's velo until April i won't worry about Bassitt's velo until April i won't worry about Bassitt's velo until April

did you see Koston's slash at the end of the game what a f***ing idiot, lmao blocks 7 shots in a row like a hero then takes the dumbest slashing penalty of the year
  10. Imagine being Gavin Lux. 25 years old. Former elite prospect who has disappointed, but done enough to be a big league regular. Looking towards his first full season as a starting position player. Probably worked all offseason to increase his bat speed and power. Trips on a grain of dirt in the second spring training game and blows out his knee.
  11. Interesting. I wonder if he has tried to reshape it too.
  12. Yeah he has always been a FB guy But his best year in relief, 2021, had his highest career FB rate Probably something to do with better FB command allowing him to get more pop ups and weak flyballs on the FB up
  13. Tim Mayza is the guy to be worried about in the pen. He's a one trick pony. Sinker: 117.9 STUFF 100.3 LOCATION Slider: 75.3 STUFF 95.8 LOCATION So... decent fastball with nothing else going on, and only average velo and command. f***ING YIKES.
  14. That's just not a correct characterization. His changeup grades out well with above average STUFF and LOCATION metrics. His fastball has a really good STUFF grade despite average velocity. His LOCATION numbers on the fastball, however, are poor. So he's a guy with two good pitches and bad command. He has trouble spotting the fastball, and the changeup is just not a strike pitch typically so the good LOCATION number doesn't mean he can necessarily land it in the zone and not get hurt. His breaking ball is bad and he throws it too much... but that's probably because he has to to steal strikes. So, not a smoke and mirrors guy. Just a league average reliever with fringe command. But if he can harness the FB just a little bit he will be very effective. He did that in 2021 and his FB was great.
  15. This batter tried to call for time for the second time during the at bat The ump still may have messed up. He possibly should have just ignored the player
  16. Okay but if baseball games are only 2.5 hours now, they need to serve beer all nine innings
  17. Could just be meniscus Might not be a ligament...
  18. Something like that might work. Even if it's just a "double fault" system for both teams in the 9th inning and on. i.e., your first fault is forgiven after the 8th inning but all subsequent ones are penalized.
  19. I think Pearson looked good. He had no command and was not able to execute his slider at all but the velo alone + getting some whiffs on the high fastball is enough at this point.
  20. if the rule is not the same at all times in the game it might actually lead to more infractions, as players won't be as firmly conditioned you might see a batter screw up during a high leverage AB in the 6th inning that "feels" like it's late you'll probably almost never see these calls late in games. the players will be alert and quick, to avoid disaster.
  21. Imagine if: - the Marlins get Groshans to hit for some power - and Moreno is a stud in year 1 - and Frasso becomes a top ~50 prospect this year How could you NOT fire Atkins? haha It's already looking like Mitch White will not be Ross Stripling.
  22. interesting.... !!!!!
  23. In Canada you can take several weeks of paternity leave concurrent with your wife's normal maternity leave Kirk won't get more than a couple days at home with his kid post birth
  24. Mayza is BP Been saying it for two years now but the Jays do not have enough pitching
