  1. I dunno. I know his xwOBA this year is better than last year and his profile looks solid in most ways. Maybe it's bad luck, maybe it's the new home park dimensions. But offense aside he's still hitting bottom of the barrel talent projections when it comes to baserunning and defense. He is probably one of the stupidest baserunners in the game. He's just not a special talent and it seems obvious. The offense may still project well but it's highly subject to BABIP risk because of his swing tendencies. His peers are like... late career JD Martinez, Josh Bell, and Rowdy Tellez.
  2. The slumps that these players are in go far beyond bad starts or random variation. In my opinion. Something is f***ing wrong with these guys. Springer is just old. Kirk is going through a young player adjustment (I think he will be fine, eventually). Vlad might just kind of f***ing suck? It's unfortunate but there is a huge career sample now and most of it is problematic. I just disagree with leaffie's one sentence saying "if they manage to get close to career norms, this is not a winning team." of course if Kirk and Springer get close to career norms the team is much better. Vlad's career norm on the other hand is pretty mediocre all things considered.
  3. Reds are in first place They did nothing Check out Ben Lively's line tonight
  4. Not really. Just the isolated decision to not replace him at second base that one time
  5. Well, they chose not to spend money in the offseason and it was basically the same decision because everybody and their grandma could tell their core was looking good and they were primed to be competitive. So I would not be shocked if they cheap out and stand pat.
  6. very low? toronto was probably just telling certain other teams that so they did not appear desperate
  7. well that makes more sense jeepers
  8. Yeah they have to be sending a big chunk of money
  9. Some of these trades are hilarious Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford for Verlander omfg
  10. no, there was a tweet that he will be active tomorrow
  11. who the f*** is Matt Svanson?
  12. It's a pathetic scene. They've been dominated by Kyle f***ing Gibson twice this year.
  13. FWIW (maybe nothing) I do kind of feel like trading for Teoscar would be uniquely energizing for the team. He was pretty popular. Maybe there would be an instant comfort factor and the hitters currently overthinking everything (Vlad, Springer) would relax a bit.
  14. Jeff Blair is so useless
  15. Yeah that's conceivable. Dylan Moore is a good player and barely playing. They just acquired Josh Rojas who was once good. I'm not sure if Kelenic is due back this year or not. They could try Moore/Marlowe/Rojas out there more.
  16. Projected to be a worse team + they have a harder schedule. It's a tough call but their playoff odds might be under 20% at this point. They also have to jump four good teams. Not just Toronto.
  17. It's just nuts though. Not only have KK and DV been better than RL (WAR), they both project better (WAR). You'd have to have 6 screws loose to make that deal and then start RL over them. Weak side platoon? Sure. But RL will cost something since he has two years of control left so Oakland will want a "starting CFer" price.
  18. lmao you are completely done with Varsho eh? you used to stan Daulton they aren't going to trade for someone like Ramon Laureano and then make DV or KK a part-time player. No chance.
  19. But how is he going to get his rhythm in a pinch hitter / weak side platoon role? Toronto needs a Steve Pearce type of player. Some 38 year old fridge who can just stand in LF if needed but can absolutely nuke LHP.
  20. not much of a HITTER lately even though his wRC+ against LHP is good this year, his K/BB rates are horrendous
  21. Ty France would also be a nice get I think he's only arb1 though so probably too pricey for a dude who is close to replacement level in 2023
  22. what do you mean, future? vlad fell off a cliff at 24!
  23. If Kyle Gibson dominates Toronto tonight and/or Bassitt sucks, I will be very upset for one whole day
