  1. That's the issue when owning star Blue Jays When they tank it hurts you twice
  2. lol you are going to miss the playoffs aren't you? It's all Vlad's fault.
  3. Wheels I guess
  4. So, the new outfield dimensions and the new construction may be one big thing going on. I know they tried to keep the changes mostly "neutral" with the wall coming in and out, up and down in various places. But things like closing off the way air flows into the tunnel might actually end up being a significant reduction in the HR park factor. I would say that we need to watch it for a few years to really know but they are making more changes this offseason and the reduction of foul territory should make a significant improvement for hitters so we will never really "know". But the 2023 statcast park factors for RC show a 98 park factor overall and a 92 for home runs.
  5. Yeah embracing new training methods can be part of it. If it can be improved then there is a skill component. It's like a SP ten years ago picking up weighted balls for the first time at 31 years old
  6. These elite players kind of have two legs to their careers. There is the pre-30 segment where they collect WAR based on pure physical talent. Then there is the 30-onward segment where they try to collect WAR with declining pure physical talent. So the ability to learn new skills, adapt, retain physical abilities, stay healthy, etc. matter so much. Guys like Derek Jeter are only HOFers because they were good in the second leg. Guys like Mookie can go from a HOFer to a legend by being good in the second leg...
  7. Oh man he would probably get destroyed in the big leagues right now Definitely needs another offseason / spring / partial AAA season of work
  8. Cleveland can pitch and Washington is a quality underdog The Blue Jays will get thoroughly dominated by Bibee, Syndergaard, and Josiah Gray and go 3-3 over the next 6 games. Vlad will have 8 groundball singles, a caught stealing, and one HR which will happen in the 8th inning of a 10-2 drumming of Logan T. Allen.
  9. 13 pitches and 6 outs lmfao This team has the worst offensive approach I have ever seen.
  10. Playoff race is down to the wire and the boys are getting DEVOURED by mid as f*** arms like Don Creamer Bobby Kennedy We CANNOT let Lyle Gibson do it to us too!
  11. He means in terms of prospect talent. The pitching rosters in AAA are generally pretty s*****. A sprinkling of actual prospects but for the most part it is older arms or fringe "prospects" who are 25/26 years old
  12. nah the only thing worse than not regularly playing him would be to not have him on the team at all
  13. I think no. Not enough produkshun
  14. Typically it does mean they are giving up the remaining money. But in practice I think the player and team often negotiate some sort of buyout. Meet in the middle or defer payments or whatever.
  15. Sad. Dude absolutely shredded his nerves / neck / shoulder over the last few years trying to rehab. The wikipedia summary is depressing: 2020 season Strasburg began the 2020 shortened season on the injured list (IL); he made his 2020 debut on August 9, 2020. On August 14, Strasburg left the second game he started, after facing only three batters. The following day, Strasburg went back to the IL with a nerve issue in his pitching hand.[106] Strasburg would miss the remainder of the year with the two games being his only appearances on the year. 2021 season Strasburg made two starts for the Nationals in 2021 before landing on the injured list on April 18 with right shoulder inflammation. Strasburg was activated and made three more starts before returning to the IL on June 2 with a neck strain. On July 27, it was announced that Strasburg would undergo surgery to alleviate neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome, ending his 2021 season.[107] In his 5 starts, Strasburg posted a 1–2 record and 4.57 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 21+2⁄3 innings of work.[108] 2022 season Strasburg was activated from the IL on June 9, 2022, and made one start (in which he gave up seven earned runs in 4+1⁄3 innings of work) before returning to the IL five days later with a stress reaction in the ribs. [109] On July 14, Strasburg was transferred to the 60-day IL, where he remained for the rest of the season.[110] 2023 season On February 15, 2023, Strasburg did not report to spring training as scheduled, due to a nerve-related setback in his recovery from thoracic outlet syndrome.[111] On June 3, Strasburg was shut down from all physical activity due to "severe" nerve damage.[112] On August 24, media reports stated that Strasburg planned to retire. [113]
  16. Also the Reds have no incentive to bring him back for one more year. They are kind of overflowing with controllable young players.
  17. You've been DOMINATED by the DEEN CREAMER sit down, losers
  18. I am not sure there are any The modern no-power 1B guys like James Loney, John Jaso and end career Joe Mauer could occasionally sting the ball 106 to 108 mph Maybe he has more power than people are worried about though. Cavan Biggio didn't hit a ball harder than 104.6 until his third MLB season, which was rather ironically when he started to suck I am sure there are a bunch of weirdo players from the 60s and 70s who had no power but amazing zone control.
  19. Castellanos got f***ing $100M Schwarber $80M Yoshida $90M
  20. His maxEVs from MiLB/College data are apparently bottom of the scale like, 104 MPH or less
  21. Tiedemann's important numbers are off the charts good. He needs to get some f***ing innings though, ugh. AFL for sure.
  22. Who f***ing knows what he gets now. This opens things up for all kinds of creative contracts. My first guess is that he ends up taking a big deal that is like, 60% of what people thought he could get, but he negotiates for an opt-out after the second year or so.
  23. They could use an Adam Lind
  24. I hate the Blue Jays
  25. He needs to literally start swinging harder
