  1. All I want in life is for the Blue Jays to be the final Wild Card team I need to watch Vlad groundout on the first pitch (a sinker two inches inside) with the bases loaded in the playoffs
  2. The playoffs remain easy to make.
  3. One of those teams HAS to be mediocre from now on. Mariners and Rangers play 7 more times Mariners and Astros play 3 more times Astros and Rangers play 3 more times They can't all win all the time. Mariners other series: Mets, Reds, Rays, Angels, Dodgers, Athletics Astros: Yankees, Padres, Athletics, Royals, Orioles, Royals, Diamondbacks Rangers: Twins, Athletics, Jays, Guardians, Red Sox, Angels
  4. Well Carrasco sucks And Clevinger... probably the domestic abuse black cloud
  5. Yeah I think they just need to be on the 40 man by September 1 so all these guys qualify
  6. Yes I guess. That's correct. No wait, the Angels could just keep him. They probably just keep him since they are on the hook for his salary anyway.
  7. But they have gone like 11-16 in August and are 5 games back of the Twins. Doesn't seem smart to me. On July 31st they were 1 game back of the Twins.
  8. Yeah but they could literally have just replaced McCoy for 9 days and had a pinch hitter with power Oh well, no big deal
  9. Q: Can a team claim multiple players? Yes! A team can submit claims for any and all players on waivers, but there’s no turning back. If, for example, the Yankees want to claim everyone on waivers to block the Red Sox from claiming anyone, that’s their prerogative. However, unlike under prior CBAs, waivers are not revocable on either side of the transaction. In this scenario, the Yankees would then be on the hook for all of the money owed to all the players, and they would have to make room on their 40-man roster accordingly. Teams are forbidden from making claims for the express purpose of blocking other teams from making a claim, so the Yankees could not immediately designate a claimed player for assignment to keep them from the Red Sox with no intent to roster him themselves.
  10. Correct, as far as I understand.
  11. Yeah but it doesn't work like fantasy waiver priority, I don't think. Like the Giants could claim multiple players? I don't know.
  12. Dazzy Vance Nap Rucker Burt Hooton
  13. I think Toronto's priority is behind all these teams: Miami Marlins, .496 Cincinnati Reds, .511 Minnesota Twins, .515* Boston Red Sox, .515 Arizona Diamondbacks, .515 San Francisco Giants, .519 Chicago Cubs, .534 So, kind of unlikely anyone worth owning sneaks through other than perhaps Grichuk. Bader can't get past the Reds.
  14. I wonder if Toronto will claim Grichuk today. Have to think all the other notable players get claimed before Toronto. Renfroe, Giolito, Lopez, Moore, Bader. Bump McCoy from the roster.
  15. They had Chapman intentionally walk Alonso that inning. Pretty dumb IMO. Puts more pressure on a guy with s*** command.
  16. I think it's a "give the fans something" move more than anything
  17. Welp. This was pretty close. 3-3. Lost to Bibee and lost the Syndergaard game. Lost to Mackenzie Gore rather than Josiah Gray. I think Vlad went 7 for 28 with two homers. One HR was a kind of meaningless solo shot off Bibee. The other one was the 2 run HR off Syndergaard which gave them a lead for a few innings. So he homered in a couple of the losses and then of course failed to get numerous big hits when needed.
  18. His command has been excellent this year His curveball seems to give hitters fits. I think it performs better than its current Stuff+ grades. Even if you buy the grades on his breaking balls, Stuff+ says he has a plus FB and average SL and CU. Also, plus command so far. His Pitching+ in limited innings is #1 on the team in 2023... He should be stretched out in 2024 IMO. He might be a viable MLB SP.
  19. That sounds like a small difference, but when you consider that most teams would be noticably better AT HOME then even minor differences in the other direction might be very significant. I do lean towards the idea that they somehow turned the park into a pitcher's paradise. It's not the dimensions though. Maybe something to do with how the error flows now.
  20. career high contact% power production has collapsed lowest pull% he has had since 2019 I don't know what exactly is going on but one clear trend is the dreaded f***ing CF flyout. It's a disease for the Blue Jays. A f***ing disease. Springer hasn't ALWAYS been a huge pull hitter, but he was from 2020-2022. This year he is kind of back to his younger batted ball profile where he is only pulling it 40% of the time. From 2020-2022 he was more of a 49% pull hitter. There is something rotten in the water, man. I dunno if it's coaching or if it has to do with the ballpark changes. But so many of these guys are like... f***ing trying to hit CF warning track flyouts.
  21. How could Ross Atkins have even defended against what has happened this year, lmao? Does he need a crystal ball and a psychoanalyst to be able to tell him that Vlad is going to lay a 0 WAR egg and Kirk+Springer+Varsho+Manoah are going to underperform their projections and 2022 production by like 13 f***ing WAR combined? Like what could he have possibly done better that isn't ******** hindsight dumbo speak? The players are blowing it. Blame the players.
  22. That's tempting if the + is anything decent Lose one year of player control and lose some upside in exchange for... a more reliable player? Sort of? Like on paper it would be dumb but having watched Vlad his entire career ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  23. Yeah there is something stinky about it
