  1. what the f*** he will NOT be a good starter dude has minus minus command
  2. 0 WAR team wins like 47 games. Toronto projects for 43.3 WAR with current roster, per Steamer. 90.3 win projection. 5th in baseball, but closer to #10 (Mets, 40.2 WAR) than even #4 (Astros, 47.3 WAR). AL EAST goes Yankees - 48.3 Jays - 43.3 Rays - 40.9 Orioles - 39.9 Sox - 35.7 Need to add some f***ing wins. It would be great to add like 4 projected WAR somehow, to get closer to the Yankees by projections... and further from TB and BAL. Stankees probably have more downside risk to their projection based on age, youth, injury problems, that kind of s***.
  3. Insane contract. Everybody must despise Stroman.
  4. nah they were f***ing studs the modern DH plays like 115 games because they platoon a bit and get days off back then these dudes were the best hitters on the team and they all got 750 PA ahaha
  5. Ross needs to HOLD THE LINE and not give any of these greedy bastards more money than they deserve. Could always bring Belt back for like $6M I bet. Or Votto for.... nothing? ahha
  6. 6th SP? I don't think he's started in any meaningful way since like, 2018. Just some 2 inning opener appearances, probably. 0.1 WAR projection. The team models obviously don't think he's much better than replacement level. Probably a push with Mitch White
  7. haha, pretty much can't imagine IKF being more frustrating than the May, June, Aug, Sept versions of Matt Chapman. They version of Chapman was something like a .200/.270/.350 hitter with a 32% K rate. at least IKF will be slapping the ball around consistently
  8. Maybe with the stick but not when you consider defense I think Toronto views IKF as an elite 3B defensively and the metrics support that
  9. He would purely be a backup on the present roster. 2B: Schneider 3B: IKF SS: Bo BN - Biggio is the platoon partner at 3B or 2B if the matchup is favourable Espinal still fits on the roster but has no direct path to playing time as he does not profile better than any of the above, in any matchup situation. Otto Lopez is probably a DFA unfortunately. He blew it in AAA last year. I think Ernie Clement (out of options) is on the bench over Otto Lopez. Everyone else has options. IF they bring in a 3B, then they can trade Espinal because that slides IKF into a utility role where he can be the backup SS. But at the moment, Espinal is literally the backup SS because IKF is starting at 3B most days. So, can't trade him yet. I mean he also might be decent. 2 WAR in 2021 and 2022.
  10. It would be idiotic to non tender him
  11. Doesn't really look like it. Just looking at GS and innings, from 2016 through 2023 he appears to have never missed significant time
  12. Shoto Imanaga deal with the Cubs seems weird. Might be very light vs. expectations. "Reporting has indicated that the deal guarantees Imanaga just $30MM over two years and involves a complex series of options as well as incentives that could bring the total guarantee to around $80MM over a longer term."
  13. If I was going to do a top 10 SP list that did NOT just copy the top 10 projected WARs, it would probably be: Strider Wheeler Gausman Cole Burnes Nola Webb Gallen Castillo Valdez #9 and #10 are really hard. Guys like Lopez and Skubal and Glasnow pop on projections, and guys like Alcantara, Cease, Scherzer, Fried are really good and show up on the last 3 year leaderboards.
  14. At worst he's Kole Calhoun plus 2 extra WAR every year for superior D and baserunning. But, I think there is more potential. Could figure some s*** out and pull off a Curtis Granderson career or something like it. A random 40 hr season and then gets some old man hitting skills as he ages.
  15. The KK signing is the Toronto front office saying that: 1. a run is a run, a win is a win 2. they don't believe Varsho is somehow elite in CF but not uber-elite in LF, and that was just 2023 statistical noise 3. the market is not valuing defense properly so they will go ahead and buy defense even if everyone thinks they need offense 4. they think enough offense will come from incumbent regression 5. they can still add thump in other spots 6. depth = flexibility = roster flexibility = trade flexibility
  16. The post is... A post-modern commentary on front offices being "too clever by half" and the translation errors that causes between them and fans. The post is not really about the moves. Don't read too much into the substantive commentary on the moves. Not the point of the screed.
  17. LOL I like this pretty funny

Raps and Knicks both flourishing after the trade Knicks people f***ing love OG
  19. IMO it is weird people were even expecting them to sign similar deals. Soler has had one great year, one okay year (2023) and then a bunch of useless seasons. He had to hit 36 homers to be a league average player in 2023 because everything else is so bad. Teoscar has 70% more career WAR in 60 less games. Since he became established, he has never been bad. His "disappointing" 2023 was as valuable as Soler's "strong" platform 2023. If nobody was offering Hernandez a good enough long-term deal for him to even consider, then Soler's market might be ugly. I am looking forward to him signing an incentive laden 1 year deal with Toronto. Maybe a cute little 2 year deal with little risk. Some team options for fun. Now, Hernandez is simply so much better that he can reasonably try to have an elite 2024 and then get a Castellanos contract. Soler would be a fool to do that and should take the most guaranteed money he is offered.
  20. It's amazing for HR. Lots don't realize this but it's like top 3. Close to neutral overall but fantastic for Hernandez. Statcast 3 year rolling park factors for right handed homers.... tied #1 with GAB
  21. If you have an issue with the Dodgers deferring payments... ... It really has nothing to do with the luxury tax. The issue is more like, preferential systems for certain owners. They are owned by a hedge fund. No other team can really do this at this scale. There is something going on with how the dodgers are selling these deferred payments to these players ..
  22. They are being taxed appropriately $1M that you have to wait 6 years to get is simply not worth $1M today. Kind of common sense, bro
  23. Guessing he had some 3 year offers but chose to bet on himself He's young enough that one big year could = massive contract And he picked the best team possible. Good hitters park, he could win the world series and have 140 RBI haha
  24. Joc is much worse than Teo so hopefully this sets the market for Pederson signing here for like 1/$12 or 2/$20
  25. How exactly are they dodging the luxury tax here, max?
