  1. Honestly don't care if he makes the team It's probably him or Horwitz and they have to project the same for the role they would fill...
  2. Yeah the more concerning part was probably the velo

The fact that you don't remember him probably answers the question (no) but it raises the floor on their third pairing I guess
  4. This is a good idea
  5. oof that was me at least Alcantara did explode... eventually... like I figured he would Man, Whit Merrifield was a fantasy stud for some time though. For a few years he was the #1 2B in our format by end of season production.
  6. Since baseball has very much opened up the idea of using draft picks to incentivize behaviour... How about bonus comp picks for teams that manage to use the fewest number of pitchers, or cross certain IP thresholds for their SP? Make it so teams directly benefit from promoting pitcher health and using traditional starters. "Show me the incentive and I'll show you the outcome." - Warren Buffet
  7. Spanky is completely right here, for the record. His posts were squarely about baseball/Manoah/commentary on Manoah, then he got hit with a wildly over the top direct personal attack.
  8. Guys, he hit three batters. Lmfao HE HIT THREE BATTERS
  9. Skill issue Sounds like a bunch of geezers who can't scout pitching and need the league to hold their hands Just join a 12 team redraft
  10. Makes sense on the Blue Jays specifically as the CF is an elite veteran Varsho would just let him eat every time
  11. Yeah you can do even better than that at some places. Like, $5 for a ticket and a beer.
  12. I'm sure they don't really make anything after considering the costs to staff and support the players. Tickets are cheap and many of the games are sparsely attended. It's more vestigial than anything. It began way back when players had normal jobs all offseason and needed a few weeks to get back in shape. People probably thought, well, why not send them somewhere warm and just get them to play friendlies while we sell a few tickets to it. You are right, if they were designing a new system from scratch it would probably not have many actual games at all.
  13. Mostly because of the starting pitchers. It takes a few turns for them to build up stamina and since they only pitch every 5 days, it takes a few weeks. If it was just hitters and relievers that needed to get ready spring training could be two weeks long.
  14. Decent lineup today Anyone good pitching? Seems like Cam Eden is getting into these games a lot

He was my favourite player. But now, nobody really talks about him much when discussing the all time greats. They say he had the best wrist shot ever, but that's what you hear.
  16. I, for one, welcome our new Landlord Overlords
  17. At least Romero had the excuse of chronic knee injuries/pain.
  18. Mr. Free Agent
  19. Sort of begs the question, which team(s) read the market well? You can't just pick a team that sucks or is always cheap. Scrolling through the signings by team, seems like most of them who spend anything have a few earlier signings that they may regret. I guess you can say the Cubs did well getting Imanaga for his money and waiting out Bellinger. I don't see any other obvious winners though. And even with the Cubs, their actions may not have been prescient; they have been surprisingly cheap in FA for a few years, much to the chagrin of their fans who want them to operate like a big budget historic powerhouse franchise. So, maybe them "reading the market well" is just luck.
  20. Ernie wants them to trade Espinal 3 singles today, two of them 100 mph+
  21. Not sure why you guys think they will trot Manoah out for a bunch of starts if he sucks The bandaid was ripped off last year
  22. Clevinger from 2023 is basically what Alek Manoah used to be. It's wild that he is unemployed? Wonder what he is asking for.
