  1. Short flight same timezone they can sleep on the plane I doubt this matters much
  2. Berrios just eviscerated Judge and Soto tonight hahaha
  3. Somehow the Blue Jays are having the saddest season in baseball White Sox and Angels and Rockies fans are having a better time I bet
  4. Vlad's body actually looks fine this year I don't think his body has a whole lot to do with it anymore Just a skill issue at this point
  5. Or some type of opt-out deal.
  6. Probably a lot of examples if you look into it Baseball is hard Jay Bruce had 17 WAR through age 26 and then almost nothing the rest of his career Alex Rios was excellent at 27 and then suddenly started bouncing between replacement level years and okay years BJ Upton was extremely valuable through age 27 then it disappeared overnight Matt Kemp went to s*** at 28 years old Yoan Moncada went to s*** at 27 Jason Heyward lost it at 26 years old and has just been clinging on ever since because he's a good bench player or role player The peak of the aging curve is still 28 years old. Bo might just be having an earlier peak. Maybe he had an early physical decline, maybe chronic injuries are to blame.
  7. Zulu 2024 debut with CIN 3 IP, 1 ER 83.3% GB rate 4 Ks 2 BB 1 H 75% sinkers sitting 96.7mph, 25% sliders sitting 88.9mph 89 stuff+ sinker 139! on the SL 101 stuff+ overall with a horribad 84 location+ his whiff rate was actually atrocious just 2%. lots of weird called strikes. I still think he's a shittier version of Pop
  8. Yeah that would be sweet. Shaw seems like a really good prospect. Busch has more WAR right now than Vlad, lol. Bassitt is worth nothing and Yimi is worth who knows what.
  9. Arjun Nimmala was demoted to the complex league a month ago but he had a 174 wRC+ there So he was sent back to Dunedin. He homered today in his first game back there.
  10. Who knows what's between his ears But everything he has done so far indicates that money is the most important thing to him He has not entertained an extension from any team even when being offered a reported $400M extension. Spurned the Nats, motivated the Padres to trade him with control left...
  11. Soto will go to the highest bidder Just hard to imagine it being Toronto He's also not the same thing as Ohtani. Has an elite current player but not some two way decade superstar. Much riskier deal maybe
  12. agree but who the f*** knows what the Vlad camp thinks his value is for all we know an extension is not even possible
  13. Houston could put together some package of 50 FV and 45 FV players and that should be enough for Vlad. It's sort of sad but it is what it is. Vlad is not going to fetch a very high end prospect. If he does get traded it will be for a bunch of guys exactly like those that make up Houston's top 10.
  14. Kelenic up to an .781 OPS What a rollercoaster player Was amazing for one month in 2023 and then bad the rest of the year Now in 2024 he is doing the opposite. Was struggling for months (platoon player, not even crushing RHP) now all of a sudden he's a star in June. shrug
  15. I kind of think he's already there He won't have an elite career WAR but his best seasons are better than Miggy, Pujols Like 2022 and this year 2024 are going to potentially both be ALL TIME seasons. How many players have two of those? I feel like only the legends do it. And he also has the 8 WAR, 52 homer 2017 How many players have 3+ 50 HR years, or a 50 and two 60+ HR years? If you ignore the steroid era guys, then it's... Babe Ruth? And nobody for the latter other than steroid guys. How many modern players have multiple seasons at 200+ wRC+? Almost none. Some guys have one. To see multiple 200+ wRC+ years you kind of need to look at old greats like Williams, Ruth, Mantle. Or Barry Bonds. Like, he has almost no peers when you look at specific accomplishments.
  16. Aaron Judge, time to start talking about him as an all time great
  17. Yes it's shorthand for "have never been a great team"
  18. I think one key is to stop hitting the ball at the f***ing centrefielder Half of the roster seems to just lift flyball after liner after flyball to centrefield. The best defender and biggest part of the park.
  19. It wasn't the same He was only bad in April 2022, every other month he was above 100 wRC+ The depth and length of his 2024 slump is quite different
  20. Doubt they'd even do it then unless the peripherals look different he does have an okay K rate and a .315 xwOBA he really does not be this bad... I don't get it where did the pop go? maxEV is way down
  21. I think even the negative nancies did not expect Toronto to be this bad The worst realistic expectation would be closer to a .500 team that misses the playoffs and has an awkward trade deadline decision this many games under .500 on June 26th with 5% playoff odds is horrendous when compared to preseason projections but, blessing in disguise if it can lead to the front office and coaching staff getting sorted and the rebuild process accelerating
  22. Yeah it's hard to disagree with anything he says I was cautiously optimistic on this team and Atkins before this season. I thought there was a chance that the offense in 2023 was a blip and the farm would prove stronger than people thought. I still think the "no playoff wins" thing is a cheap shot since the postseason in baseball is just plinko anyway. Turns out that 2023 was not a blip. There are fundamental issues with the way this team coaches and curates talent. Hard to see it any other way. Even if you give Atkins a pass on the MLB roster and say "bullpens are f***ing random and the offense being bad is mostly Vlad, Bo, Kirk, and Springer's fault. the GM doesn't play the games" that does not explain the piss poor drafting and developmental record which doesn't look any better as this season goes along.
  23. Yeah but it's specifically that 6th year that makes it an overpay. AAV not super relevant. 5/$125 would have been fine. Imagine of 2025 was the last year for Springer here? That would be nice. f***. Hopefully he can figure something out and at least return to a 1.8 WAR player. Just hit .250 with 20 homers please.
