  1. Dolton Varsho random 10 WAR Jacoby Ellsbury szn plz
  2. 100% They'll have to beat DR to make the finals anyway, and two 10% upsets in a row is just too much to ask for. Go all in for this win, treat it like your gold medal game.
  3. Olympics qualification.... two teams from the Americas qualify through this WBC but USA as the 2028 automatically qualifies so I assume that means the top two non USA teams. Venezuela, PR, and Canada all went 3-1. DR went 4-0. What happens if Ven, PR, and Canada all lose in the QF? DR qualifies for the Olympics, but then is spot #2 decided by a tie-breaker formula? There is a lot at stake here! Looks like the tiebreaker would be "runs allowed per recorded defensive out" so I guess we need to hope PR and Ven get blown out and then Canada, even if they lose, somehow hold USA to a reasonable run total LMAO
  4. I think Paxton is allowed to pitch tomorrow. 80 pitches seems to be the limit in the QF. Soroka 5 shutout innings using 81 pitches, then Paxton 4 shutout innings throwing 97 the entire time? Canada wins 2-0.
  5. I mean Italy just did it and Canada and Italy are comparable I know USA thought they had already advanced so it's not the same but any credible MLB pitcher can shut down a lineup, even a lineup of stars, and Soroka is very comparable to Lorenzen who just blanked USA for almost 5 innings. Italy has better relievers though. Canada would need Soroka to deal and then some group of relievers to not get lit up. Maybe someone like Wilkinson or Skirrow, someone the USA players have never seen before, could just baffle them a bit and get lucky. Canada's offense can hang. What if Webb or someone else has a bad outing and gives up some runs? O'Neill and Naylor need to hit homers. It's baseball. Prediction markets are giving Canada a 16% chance to win right now. That's not zero!
  6. What does your sexual preference have to do with the WBC?
  7. WHAT A PLAY BY TORO! it was a routine play but for this team it's a five star accomplishment
  8. all I am saying is I need an O'Neill and Naylor back to back HR inning in the QF or else I am moving to Florida
  9. Runner on first Naylor up watching on Gameday - in play run(s) HOLY s*** NAYLOR DID SOMETHING MUST BE A HOMER WHAT A LEGEND Watch highlight - s***** bloop the left fielder misplays into a run, Naylor somehow is only on 1B when Lopez went first to home
  10. looks like Big Maple is pitching the 8th too hmmm lol uhhhh hmmmmmm I mean 95 from the left side is better stuff than the other options I suppose?
  11. probably because of the up-down it would have required I bet teams are placing all kinds of restrictions on players like maybe Naylor was not allowed to play the field today
  12. It should be 10+ But MLB won't let MLB players go if it is going to take much longer than 1 week, so that's probably why it is such a small dumb tournament Handing out 3 medals when there are 6 participants is hilarious though, and very much un-Olympic
  13. I guess more American participation will inevitably lead to more Canadians wearing the red and white. Weird thing about international baseball right now is the 2028 Olympics. Baseball is there but it will only be a 6 team tournament. USA gets in automatically as the host. The top two teams from the Americas in this WBC get in too. Imagine if Canada somehow did? lol
  14. Macko with the curveball! To strikeout some guy I heard of in the LOD draft many years ago. I think.
  15. Establish better relationships with the players, have a more inspiring or better program, do what it takes to field a deeper team. It's a long term failure. Not something they can fix overnight. Need to start now for the next tournament and the one after. Maybe they are already improving, who knows.
  16. Just so sad that Canada has to go straight from 5 great innings from someone who is (sort of) an MLB SP to a relief appearance by a guy who has never touched AAA. It is definitely some sort of organizational / program failure to be so unable to get the pitching depth to come participate. Even if this was just Zach Pop here. Or Romano. Or Sabrowski.
  17. This Indigo guy was okay before right?
  18. Well, there goes the JPPL Ace. I guess that's as good as Canada could have reasonably hoped for against a quality SP. He gave up a run and didn't carve them up for 5 innings. Should have had another run or two though.
  19. lol Yesavage finally pitched, in a sim game against Jays minor leaguers, and got rocked. two walks and two homers. 35 pitches
  20. This game is setting up perfectly for Aumont or Paxton to be trusted with a leverage inning and serve up a game losing 2 or 3 run homer.
  21. pitch was two inches inside but he strong
