  1. HOT NEW TORONTO BLUE JAYS WAIVER CLAIM RELIEVER!!!!!!!!!!!! Brett de Geus
  2. Splits are funny I think his second half and first half wRC+ are identical He really just had one hot month, July
  3. LOL that reaction I love him
  4. I mean he is right, even if "playing the game the right way" is pretty heavy coded language that the Baseball Old Boys Conservation Club uses all the time Toronto continues to be one of the worst baserunning teams in baseball and a lot of that is just stupidity. They ground into double plays at an alarming rate, don't exactly rise to the occasion ever, they blow games, they are not clutch... the defense is not as solid as it was pre-deadline: Kirk - great Varsho - great Clement - fine but yips Vlad - s*** Barger - s*** Horwitz - s*** at 2B Wagner/Schneider at 2B - I mean these are guys you hide at 2B Schneider in LF - sucks Springer - bad What does this organization even do right? What do they do "the right way" at this point? They suck on talent and they suck on fundamentals, lol.
  5. f*** that man Leave him in
  6. Yeah but I think it was... "we have our main 3B but if Chapman falls in our lap I guess we can make IKF the UTIL" it wasn't really... "we have our plan B 3B but we are still going to shoot for Chappy"
  7. lol it wasn't "bad" remember the context. The 3B FA/trade options were Chapman, Suarez, Candelario, or.... IKF. Nobody wanted B or C (B worked out well in hindsight!) and A made it almost impossible for Toronto to sign him. C was a pricey flop. Toronto paid $7.5M AAV for a guy who was a very high probability 1.5 WAR 450 PA 3B, given what was known about his defense and contact skills. There was also some weak evidence that he might be a better hitter than he'd shown (maxEV is decent) and getting anybody out of the New York pressure cooker seems like a good idea generally. It was a boring/safe signing with some interesting sprinkles and those sprinkles paid off very well. Boss Ross.
  8. They are saying it was a bad signing and Ross got lucky.
  9. But they also want to see Barger, Wagner, Jimenez, Clement get reps on the infield. Like, does Barger even have a chance at third? Can Wagner play second? Important things to figure out too
  10. Probably just PR damage control from Camp Bo. He was starting to look like a s*** teammate. That doesn't really help his value or trade chances
  11. Well there will always be exceptions. Kwan and Arraez are very rare archetypes. There have been other players of different styles who had careers built on batting average. Tim Anderson comes to mind. Horwitz is probably a somewhat basic hitter actually. Just a good approach and 15-20 HR power. Yeah the Jays might be trying to find these "sneaky good" hitters at the end of the roster. Have a handful now. When everyone in the league is chasing exit velo and barrels you can't just chase the same skills and expect to be good. But you could argue that Toronto overdid it and that's part of why they blew up. Too much reliance on avg. The Bo, Kirk, Vlad all weren't getting hits at the same time. I dunno. Not enough oomph.
  12. It's also highly variable. LD rate and BABIP are hard to project. So you can be a true talent .290 hitter but when you hit tough luck you f***ing suck. See Bichette, Bo.
  13. Yeah most players have to sell out for power or else they will suck Pitching too good to get lots of singles and walks but you can guess right often enough to hit 15-20 homers
  14. yeah you wanted Rocker + Roman Anthony + Eldridge for Nola also tried to dangle Freeman and Seager for him in other deals lol fetish
  15. Romano did not have TJS so he could be 100% healthy in 2025 Projected ERAs: Green: 3.98 Burr: 3.88 Green should be a fine secondary setup guy. Burr might have good enough command of his solid breaking ball to be a good middle reliever. From the kinds of guys they have been claiming recently, or promoting, I think they have their model right for the bullpen. Easton Lucas - 124 stuff+ slider and sits 94.7, projected ERA of 4.18 Luis Frias - sits 96.3, projected ERA of 4.11, 112 overall stuff+ Brandon Eisert - 4.04 projected ERA, 114 stuff+ fastball from the left side Emmanuel Ramirez - 4.16 projected ERA, 115 overall stuff+ with a 132 on his splitter... Tommy Nance - 122 overall stuff+ (huge curveball grade...) Some of those guys have a shot... maybe something like this would be enough: Romano FREE AGENT Green Burr FREE AGENT Little/Eisert Nance/Ramirez/Lucas
  16. I think before 2025 you can just bet the over on the Athletics projected win totals, and make a lot of money Rooker - star Bleday - 3 WAR and counting with K rate under 20% Butler - 3 WAR in 367 PA. Another star? Langeliers - 2 WAR solid C Schuemann - sneaky good walks and defense SS? Gelof - good bounce back candidate in 2025 Jacob Wilson - will be good. nuked the minors and has strong projections. They have 5 SP presently in their rotation who are under 29 and above replacement level. Nothing sexy but they will stay in games. The best closer in baseball.
  17. Wait he might be above replacement level! good stuff+ on his fastball and splitter
  18. Just think the footwork isn't there More of a RF profile
  19. Addison Barger 1st half: 66 PA, .391 OPS, 7 wRC+, .174 wOBA, 30.3% K rate 2nd half: 105 PA, .827 OPS, 128 wRC+, .347 wOBA, 23.8% K rate, .254 BABIP He is not getting lucky at all as you can see from the BABIP. He is just being very aggressive and getting to his power and it is working. The problem is he might not be able to hit left handed pitching whatsoever and he might be a butcher. Defensive stats hate him so far and (in a meaningless sample size) he has no walks and almost a 50% K rate against LHP. So if he's a piece he's probably a strong side platoon player with questionable defense.
  20. The Giants are a bit of a clusterf***. - terrible developmental org recently - always "just missing" top free agents and then ending up wasting money on guys like Conforto or Haniger or Jung Hoo Lee A lot like the Blue Jays, actually!
  21. Some orgs are probably just skipping AAA for any real P prospects because of the ABS system. I think the Angels skipped AAA with all of Kochanowicz, Caden Dana, and Aldegheri
  22. Primarily SS, best seasons all time by fWAR 1. Honus Wagner 11.8 fWAR 1908 2. Lou Boudrea 10.9 fWAR 1948 3. Honus Wagner 10.8 fWAR 1905 4. Cal Ripkin Jr. 10.6 fWAR 1991 5. Alex Rodriguez 10.0 fWAR 2002 6. Robin Young 1982 7. Cal Ripken Jr. 1984 8. Ernie Banks 1959 9. Honus Wagner 1909 10. Rico Petrocelli 1969 11. Honus Wagner 1906 12. Bobby Witt Jr. 9.6 fWAR and counting 2024 Projections say he should do 0.9 more WAR this year. He should pass A. Rod and post an all time SS season. Outside shot to pass Cal and 1905 Honus and be 3rd best ever... He appears to be an A Rod level talent. If Witt Jr. finds a way to do steroids he might have a 100 WAR career.
  23. Santos has a legit MLB slider https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/video/dahian-santos-fans-five?q=ContentTags%20%3D%20%5B%22playerid-692479%22%5D%20Order%20by%20Timestamp%20DESC&cp=CMS_FIRST&p=0 He has not shown the command needed to be a SP and I don't know if he has a third pitch, but they might not be completely pulling the plug on him as a SP prospect. Still only 21 and he is doing 2 and 3 inning appearances in AA. He can touch 96 I think. No idea if his fastball has decent shape. But at a minimum he's a solid relief prospect. He could probably throw 60% sliders and be fine as an MLB reliever next year.
  24. It's like the Springer contract but the player is a year older. Could get real ugly, real fast.
  25. No, loser. He's part of my Drag Show.
