  1. I did mean baseball. But sure. Might as well add Ray Lewis to the list.
  2. Hard to imagine a more unlikable superstar sometimes.
  3. They should figure out a way to reward distance as well. I'd take one jumbotron destroying missile over 10 wall scrapers any day.
  4. Why would Arizona not want Justin Upton? Don't put anything past crafty Kevin.
  5. I think you might be exaggerating. Literally. Even in the unlikely case that you're not, theirs would be a dumb point. No reason to use similar thinking. In the context of a current, ongoing rebuild I have no idea why you would not. Obviously ownership is a common factor among regimes but you can hardly blame the current group for Jim Hendry's failures. There's honestly not a whole lot I'd do different than what Epstein and Hoyer have done since Dec 2011. They're setup for a period of sustained success when you consider the financial backing they'll surely have when the time to add complimentary pieces arrives. It's actually quite relevant in that: A) You're involved You loved the Bolland, Clarkson and Phaneuf deals C) The construction of baseball and hockey teams have many philosophical overlaps despite being different games D) You're constantly beating the drum for veteran baseball players and s***ing on the value proposition provided by prospects (despite not being familiar with any of the research, of course). Of course I do that. We all do that. You're just way too easy to needle. The combination of the dumb things you say and your hilariously short fuse make you an easy target. You bring it upon yourself. At least you went with this substance-less aphorism than referencing your university degree that nobody cares (or frankly believes you) about.
  6. Bicep sizes and body fat %s plz and thx Mr. Cow.
  7. I can only assume that this, like you screename, is some weird attempt at irony given your propensity to lose your s*** on here at semi-regular intervals. And I don't know, I just don't think it's too much to ask to get even the most basic of facts right before you start attacking what a front office has done.
  8. He also thought ARod was traded to Texas from Seattle so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by his fuzzy baseball memory.
  9. Epstein and Hoyer took over in the 2011-2012 offseason. Not sure why you're even referencing 2009-2011.
  10. World Series MVP by November? Am I getting ahead of myself here? When the minds of Grant and AA agree so thoroughly on something, it's hard for me not to be all in.
  11. That does seem like the best price they're offering.
  12. Everybody knows AA isn't a fangraphsdotcom guy.
  13. Exactly. Where are the baseball equivalents of David Clarkson, Dave Bolland and Dion Phaneuf when you need them? Those are the types of investments big markets should be making to continually strengthen their sporting juggernauts.
  14. o/u posts before BTS links his famous thread: 18.5
  15. Welcome home Walrus.
  16. Sanchez in the same breath as Gallo/Sano/Pederson is awful. I'd also rather have 1 JP Crawford over 2 Aaron Sanchezes.
  17. Why on earth would the front office say anything to Blair regarding Colby and Melky's futures at this point? That makes no sense. Sounds like Blair is probably just making s*** up (even if he's right).
  18. Sean Rod a month ago + an arm upgrade of some description was probably the best course of action. Now, it might be too late (or maybe not. Playoff odds are still a workable 34% though I don't think these account for the Lawrie or Edwin injuries). Lets all cross our fingers and hope Dombrowski/Ilitch thinks Reyes is still a star or something and volunteers to take on the contract.
  19. Except for the fact the Mariners are favoured today (both by simulation and betting markets) with Iwakuma on the bump.
  20. +1 Cya later Mitch Nay.
  21. Half a run per 9 over half a season is not that insignificant...It's like half a win. Plus, the conversation isn't just Happ vs McCarthy. Someone else in the rotation will inevitably get hurt in some capacity. This adds to the currently non-existent depth. Jenkins, Nolin, Sanchez, whoever from AAA are all replacement level options at this point. I wasn't one to go crazy about McCarthy going forward, but given the low acquisition cost, it was a move that would have helped. Who knows with Towers though. He might think Nuno > Norris or something.
  22. All those things are wrapped into what Steamer tries to tell us: 4.04 FIP ROS, 4.26 ERA ROS. Those seem pretty reasonable, no?
  23. There's a number of ways the team could be upgraded. 3B is one of them but upgrades to the rotation or 2B (kind of the same thing given Lawrie's flexibility) may make more sense depending on the acquisition costs. The Jays need to upgrade our projected run differential going forward. How they do that should be a bit less specific than you suggest.
  24. One of the worst posts ever. I remember now why I don't ever come into GDTs.
