  1. I think 8 K/9 and 2 BB/9 is attainable next year.
  2. I'd take Price over Shields going forward and it isn't close. Price still throws 94, that's well above average for a lefty or righty and his BB rate was stellar this year.

It's pretty hard for me to believe that Steen just suddenly became a point per game guy at age 29. Sell.
  4. I've had 94 trade inquiries/messages since the season ended.
  5. You'd think so, but I can't even get a draft pick for Huston Street or Grant Balfour right now. Once the season starts, you can get a 3rd round pick for your average closer, but that's about as high as their value seems to get.
  6. ITT: Posters casually pull a pre-prime ace into a trade negotiation for a non-tender candidate. Sale has a better K%, BB%, GB% and vFB than Clayton Kershaw. And he's a year younger. But of course we can get him thrown in for our 5'9 PED user and A+ starter who's never thrown 100 IP in a season and has a career 4.7 BB/9.
  7. We had a flurry of early activity, it seems like a lot of people were excited from the inaugural season and got their Xmas shopping done early. In the other keeper/fantasy leagues I'm in, there's been virtually no activity so far. But if my inbox is any indication, there are a lot of people still looking to make big moves.
  8. It's a great offense, but it's a Homer Bailey injury away from missing the playoffs. Even with Bailey the pitching is nowhere near the upper half of the league.
  9. Oops, I forgot Cishek, who I'd really prefer to roster. #firstworldproblems Thanks, I'm pretty confident I'll have the best pitching in the league. It makes me think I might cut Lackey and keep a closer instead.
  10. C Gattis 1B Crush 2B Carp 3B Miggy SS Desmond CF Gardner OF Craig OF Torii DH Freeman 4OF Bourn SP1 Bumgarner SP2 Sale SP3 Fernandez SP4 Shields SP5 Medlen SP6 Ryu SP7 Beachy SP8 Lackey RP Aroldis RP Koji Outside looking in: Street, Balfour
  11. A couple weeks after the cutdown date.
  12. It also depends on what your Waiver Draft position is. Say you had #1 and you knew you were going to take Abreu, you wouldn't have to carry a 1B heading into the draft. It is an easier decision for rebuilding teams for sure, but that's the whole point. Make the contenders trim more talent for redistribution.
  13. Has anyone given any thought to what their 20 man roster will look like? I'm thinking I'll go 10 bats, 7 starters, 3 relievers, but I may go 10/8/2 or even 9/8/3. I'm curious what other GMs are planning. I fought to get a 20 man limit (and I stand by it for parity's sake), but it presents some hard choices.
  14. A few more thoughts: leagues at the same level never have equal depths of talent, so best pitcher in the FSL is not the same as best pitcher in the CAL, and so on. Also, being the best pitcher in a AAA league is definitely not better than being the best pitcher in a AA league. There are some problematic assumptions here.
  15. Also, there needs to be a positional bonus for CF.
  16. Theres a note at the top of that thread saying it's only updated in-season. If Chris Owings is worth more points than Buxton, then these points are meaningless.
  17. Buxton was the top hitter in FSL and MWL so he should get double points. Also, I no longer own him.

Really have no idea what the Islanders are thinking on this one. However this should give Vanek a slight fantasy boost, so as an owner I'm not complaining.
  19. Those rankings fail to account for Marco Gonzales becoming the next Johan Santana.
  20. Terrible idea. Prospects are meaningless.
  21. The Cards continually draft college guys who can hit for average and walk but lack a firm defensive profile (Craig, Carpenter, Piscotty, and to a lesser extent Wong). Then they develop the hell out of them and the rest league is left wondering how they missed out. It's not always about athleticism and defensive prowess, and I think some FOs lose sight of the fact that hitting is really the carrying tool for major league contributors.
  22. I want in on the Tim Salmon sweepstakes. Or are we talking about Mike Carp?
  23. On a related note, last March the Hurl traded Sale for Buxton AND Puig in our other league. I bet he's loving that deal now.
  24. You should absolutely panic and make some rash decisions.
