In fairness, it wasn’t a bad pitch, nor was the HR off Hoffman yesterday. That’s on Schneider IMO, Little had no business facing a power righty in leverage.
The Jays aren’t really in a position to trade Lauer just to do right by him, nor does he have appreciable trade value. His contract is a reflection of the leverage he had when he signed it. If he goes out there and dominates then he will force his way into the rotation. Sorry pal!
Hope I am wrong, but this reads as he doesn’t have long to live.
I feel like Buck always projected sincere enthusiasm and more years than not I found him entertaining and additive. Was he the most eloquent presenter? Or the most analytical? Or the most sober all the time? No! But I will miss him.
DH Springer
RF Bellinger
1B Guerrero
LF Santander
3B Okamoto
C Kirk
CF Varsho
2B Clement
SS Gimenez
This would be a sexy lineup with Barger/Santander/Okamoto platooning the hottest bats. Trade Lukes for a reliever or capable bench SS.
Kinda at the point in my baseball fandom where any time a major trade target goes somewhere other than LAD or NYY, it feels like a win.
Yankees were surely pushing Spencer Jones as a trade chip and the Marlins preferred Caissie.
Absolutely love this. Legit looking hitter who will probably play all 4 corners. Big upgrade offensively on the likes of Lukes/Schneider/Clement. Clement as a super utility or starting 2B. Don’t know the cost yet but I doubt it’s more than $15m AAV and 3 years. This allows the Jays a lot more flexibility to just get any one of Bichette/Tucker/Bellinger/Bregman at the best possible value.
TBH I would rather have Bregman at like 5/$150 than Bo at 10/$300. Especially if concessions are being made to let Bo continue playing SS. Bo’s approach won’t age well and he’s put on a lot of weight the past 2-3 years.
Berrios is either about to have surgery or be traded for another suboptimal contract like Joc Pederson or Lourdes.
Maybe you attach a decent prospect and just foist the payroll onto a salary floor team like the Pirates.
