  1. Kenny says a deal is close.
  2. Johnson will dominate in Oakland and they will trade him for a profit. As it stands, he'll likely out-WAR Weeks next year FWIW.
  3. ITT: Posters pretend that Jemile Weeks is an MLB regular and that closers are worthless. Not sure what you're all smoking but in real life I like this deal for the A's. Weeks isn't a guy.
  4. That pretty much sums it up.
  5. That goes for all of us, but I don't see how that's a knock against the Blue Jays. Detroit made an idiotic trade. It's pretty obvious that they could have landed a better package if they shopped Fister better.
  6. Why are you making this about the Blue Jays?
  7. This is completely senseless, I can't imagine what the f*** Detroit was thinking here. They didn't even get one impact prospect back for a durable SP2 at below market salary.
  8. What a terrible package. Kinda seems like Detroit didn't shop him very hard or very long, we never heard anything about his availability and that is one lacklustre return.
  9. I'd have to think AJ Cole or Brian Goodwin is also involved.
  10. The Tigers must need to cut payroll to keep Scherzer.
  11. That's it?
  12. Strasburg-Zimmermann-Gio-Fister f*** that is filthy.
  13. That would be a huge get for the Tigers IMO.
  14. Maybe Ramos?
  15. This thread was first.
  16. Very surprised to see the Tigers move him, I wonder what they're getting.
  17. Fernandez is already a gift, just watch his starts and bask in the greatness.
  18. I'm realistic about the asking price, a solid prospect probably gets it done.
  19. Especially pitchers who stand to benefit from a bit of HR suppression though. Steamer projects his ERA to match his 2012 FIP next year, should clock in around 3.5 with about a K/IP.
  20. Maybe we can talk about getting Kazmir to your FC team as a mid-rotation piece. I'm shopping him.
  21. What a perfect fit for the A's.
  22. It really is nonsense; they've whiffed on pretty much every 1st rounder since Price in 2007, and he was a slam dunk 1-1. Tim Beckham was a total disaster of a pick (could have been Posey, Alvarez, Hosmer). You could argue that good scouting was a major factor in their success, but it had little to do with picking early.
  23. That's one thing, but you'd essentially be trading Sanchez for a declining Phillips and his hefty contract.
