K... but our team is super f***ing old and two of our best hitters are only under contract for this year. The Cubs are all 26 or younger and locked up long term. The are most likely going to win multiple pennants in the next 5 years.
The Pirates infield is a horrific mess. With Kang out, it's basically Jordy Mercer, Josh Harrison, Francisco Cervelli, and what, Mike Morse? No 3B to speak of. Maybe they call up Hanson and use Harrison at 3rd? Barf.
Why is Billy Beane so lauded, again? He's never won even a pennant, his record as a GM is basically .500 over the last 10 years, and he's made a bunch of dumbass trades. Moneyball was just an epic crock of s*** that completely glossed over the fact that his team had 3 ace level pitchers in their prime. The Donaldson and Samardzija trades were both firable offenses. I just really don't get it, at all.
Why is that weak? They have been watching him play every game for years. They know very well what his skillset is. They have a gaping hole at his position, he's moved all the way up the minor league chain, and they still won't even give him a chance to take the job and run with it.
Granted, Starlin Castro is steaming dogshit, so he might end up taking the job anyway.
