  1. Could have had Chris Sale
  2. The draft is over right? So the MiLB picks can be changed over to 2019?
  3. Anybody desperate enough to give me a hotshot prospect for emerging elite closer Joe Jimenez?
  4. Hmmm I'm more concerned about the K rate than the body. He's got a great bod, better than FF. Judge will probably be a 1B in a few years anyway, I'd think.
  5. I did a rigorous Bret Sayre analysis: R: Push (or slight edge to Judge) H: Freeman HR: Judge RBI: Push (or slight edge to Judge) SB: Push OBP: Push (or slight edge to Freeman) SLG: Judge Age: Judge Position: Long-term push, bonus point to Freeman for temporary 3B eligibility I asked for Harper because I knew he was earning CF eligibility today, but Judge was ultimately an acceptable counter offer.
  6. I consulted with two board elders and slept on this before accepting. One voted yay, one voted nay. I think it's very close in value.
  7. Holy s***, AA lost like 50 lbs.
  8. He's been interesting the last month or so, and is now a slightly above average hitter on the season. I think he at least won't murder my OBP like Fowler and Brinson have been. Also I've just totally lost any faith in Alford as a prospect and wanted to free up roster spots.
  9. You know you're desperate for a CF when you actively seek to acquire Jason Heyward.
  10. Verdugo has a plus hit tool while you pretty much won't find a single baseball insider who think Ramirez will hit MLB pitching at an average level. Verdugo has defensive utility and a 70 to 80 grade throwing arm while Ramirez is a fringy defender who is definitely limited to a corner spot. I'm not a big proponent of Verdugo personally, but these days, guys with 45-50 range power and 60+ hit tools generally end up having better than expected power in the big leagues because over time they learn to lift and drive the ball, plus the MLB ball is juiced. Ramirez is going to bounce around as a 4th OF type if he can even make the majors, Verdugo has enough skills to project as a regular or perhaps above average regular. You should probably stop stat scouting.
  11. He's a joyless ****, no big mystery here.
  12. And guess what? JA Happ is actually a reasonable Qualifying Offer candidate if contenders don't meet the Jays' asking price. In that scenario we'd either get him on a one year deal around $17.5M, or we'd get a compensation draft pick if he signs elsewhere. This would also give the Jays leverage in negotiating an extension with Happ. Happ is on his 4th straight season of being a 3 WAR pitcher, so if it comes down to paying him $17.5M on a one year deal, in a year where our payroll is stripped way back anyway, I'm okay with that. We don't have to trade him for any sort of middling return, there is leverage here.
  13. It depends on the circumstances. If the player being acquired has multiple years of control, then certainly yes. If the player is a rental, like Happ, and the Jays have fallen out of contention... no... except... the Yankees need starting pitching the most out of any contender/buyer. THAT is why they will pay a premium IMO, not because they're in our division.
  14. The Yankees aren't the only suitor for Happ, they can pay a premium to get him (Frazier or Florial) or they can f*** off. We can get the likes of Albert Abreu from any number of contending teams.
  15. I think that's a nonsensical Pat Tabler anecdote.
  16. I'd be very okay with experimenting any of those guys in CF.
  17. I could see us adding something like Pillar as a deal sweetener. He's an ideal 4th OF who can play CF and get some PR opportunities.
  18. If it came down to it, yes, but the Yankees don't really have a spot to play Donaldson, and most likely we could get a better return shopping them separately.
  19. Packaging Happ with Donaldson for an elite prospect isn't a crazy idea, but on planet Earth, Juan Soto is untouchable.
  20. The hot stove is heating up and it looks like their will be plenty of suitors for Happ. Neither team has an elite prospect to trade, not that Happ would return an elite prospect. However, asking for Clint Frazier or Kyle Lewis might be a good starting point given the desperate need both teams have for reliable starting pitching.
  21. J.A. Happ - S - Blue Jays According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Yankees and Mariners are both expressing interest in Blue Jays starter J.A. Happ. The Blue Jays are coming off a surprising three-game sweep of the Nationals, but they're buried in fourth place in the American League East standings and are likely to launch into selling mode within the next several weeks, ahead of the July 31 deadline. Happ has seemingly emerged as Toronto's most valuable trade chip with Josh Donaldson battling health issues. The veteran left-hander holds a 3.48 ERA, 1.065 WHIP, and 94/25 K/BB ratio in 82 2/3 innings (14 starts) this season. He's making $13 million in the final year of a three-year, $36 million deal.
  22. Teo has a lot more power than I was given to believe when the Jays acquired him. He’s like Khris Davis with more defensive utility.
