  1. We really need the offense to put up some numbers because Ryu looks completely off.
  2. I suspect Kirk could use some additional games to get back into a rhythm and improve his game calling anyways so it's not the end of the world if he is the odd man out initially.
  3. Is it fair to say that you wouldn't trade either for Rodriguez though?
  4. Oh I agree, and to be clear I wasn't suggesting anyone on this board is being racist. I just thought it was an interesting comment and wanted to give my 2 cents.
  5. It all plays into the same narrative. Truthfully these comments and thoughts are so institutionalized that they often occur on a subconscious level.
  6. This man is not wrong... It's similar to when people remark that a person is well spoken because they speak like a white person.
  7. What is the most money and term that you would be comfortable offering Semien?
  8. And his xFIP of 5 details why that is unlikely to continue at his current pace. A 6.60 K/9 and 3.30 BB/9 just isn't very good, though to be fair ZiPS thinks both will improve moving forward. Anyways, I'm not disagreeing that he can be a back end bull-pen piece, almost anyone can. I'm just not rostering him ahead of Dolis who has shown the ability to perform in a high leverage role last year.
  9. The Jays just need to continue to make hay against the bad teams and hover around .500 against the rest until the deadline. At that point management will hopefully have added enough through trade and call-ups that the team can compete against anyone.
  10. Payamps has been worth 0.1 fWAR and both Zips and Steamer project him to be replacement level the rest of the way. Dolis has been similarly useless thus far, and his projections also suck but I will bet on the guy that misses bats. Nothing in Payamps peripherals suggest what he is doing is sustainable.
  11. Peak Brandon Morrow was really fun, even if it only lasted for like a second.
  12. Nothing strange about it, Dolis is a better pitcher.
  13. Grichuk is not too good to be a 4th OF, and he can DH against lefties as well as spell: Springer, Gurriel and Teoscar when they need a day. There is more than enough at bats for all of them. Dickerson is essentially a better and more versatile Tellez.
  14. I mean the Jays could just use Dickerson as a DH against RHH...
  15. Ideally somewhere where I never have to watch him pitch again.
  16. This could be our pen in a few weeks if no additional injury setbacks occur. It is by no means great, but it at least resembles a major league bullpen. Romano Merryweather Borucki Cimber Castro Chatwood Mayza Dolis
  17. But doesn't incorporating predictive metrics kind of defeat the purpose of WAR, which is to highlight how much value a player has provided and not how much value they are likely to provide in the future?
  18. Because the other options suck too... How many times do people need to see a different guy fail before they realize the problem isn't just one or two guys.
  19. Its not even worth getting upset until the organization makes a trade to improve the pen or multiple injured relievers return. The pen is just f***ing awful and for whatever reason reason Jays blow at scoring in extra innings.
  20. What is funny about that? I'm willing to bet there are some kids you wouldn't want to invest in either because they are f*** heads. Dan just phrased it nicer.
  21. Prior regimes churned out some good prospect talent. Marcum, Hill, Halladay, Carpenter, Wells, Rios, Young and Romero all had good to great careers in the 2000's and Litsch, Lind, Chacin and McGowan had a good season or two each as well. Even the AA regime produced: Stroman, Guerrero, Musgrove, DeSclafani and Syndergaard.
