  1. Charlie just confirmed Romano was available and would have pitched had the Jays taken the lead.
  2. The Blue Jays are very close to being a very good ball club, but they must be aggressive in upgrading the pen and defense. It won't happen overnight, but even incremental improvements in these areas can have profound impacts on this ball club. They are close though and that is a good thing.
  3. It's remarkable how consistently this team commits errors in big moments. It's definitely something the front office will need to improve in the coming seasons. Contending teams don't give outs away.
  4. The fact that the umpire was screwing the Jays makes that outcome all the more delicious.
  5. Time to flip Grichuk and Gurriel in the order. They are both regressing towards the mean.
  6. That is a fair point, I don't think I realized how poor the Yankees lineup has been this year.
  7. If this team can hang around .500 against Boston and New York this week and then make up some ground against Baltimore and Miami they will be well positioned to make a run at the deadline. Both through trade and internal additions. Not many teams are going to be adding: Springer, Merryweather, Kirk, Hatch, Murphy et al between now and July.
  8. Ah, so it's like an invisiball? The hitter thinks its going to be at a certain spot but the ball doesn't drop as much and ends up at a higher point?
  9. So alot is being made recently about the impact of foreign substances on spin rates. I understand how RPM effects breaking pitches as it is creates more vertical and horizontal movement and thus more break. However, I am having trouble understanding why more RPM makes fast balls tougher to hit and was hoping someone smarter than me could explain this. I apologize in advance if this is being posted in the wrong thread, I just didn't know where else to ask this.
  10. This is a really good point.
  11. My justification is that his peak is better than most guys on this list. Maybe I overrate that relative to the overall and recent body of work, maybe not.
  12. I know those other guys have longer MLB track records, but as far as track record of being an elite hitter at any level you could make the argument that Vlad actually has the best track record. Moreover, the more time passes the more it seems like his weight was a legitimate excuse/reason for his sub par play (relative to expectations) in his first two years.
  13. Guerrero Soto Tatis Acuna Bellinger Moncada Ohtani Bichette Robert Bieber Buehler Franco Albies Alvarez Tucker Torres
  14. I'll bet the Red Sox won't fail to cash if they get a runner to third with less than 2 outs.
  15. There have to be relievers available that can help us for a price that makes sense. I'm not even talking about studs, just comfortably average bull pen guys.
  16. Now would be a cool time for a 1st career Major League HR.
  17. You are obviously right, but I am playing off of emotions. It also legitimately makes me feel better to blame Montoyo for everything.
  18. This is completely irrational, but that stupid look Montoyo makes when things go wrong just aggravates me more. At least give the appearance that you have things under control.
