I get what you are saying. It seems your position is 100% the prevailing notion of all of the baseball minds I listen to to try and form an opinion about matters (Buck, John Shannon and Roger Lajoie)... but it just seems it's not computing with what I'm seeing on the field. Yes, most of his hits are tiny, s***** little hits, but he's still getting on base. Maybe it's something about how he fits in this lineup. Is power less of a thing when you have 3 of the best power hitters right in a row all up right after you? How much does it help said 3 power hitters when such a pesky speed threat is on base so much... even if only first base. We know batting average goes up with a runner on, does it go up further when the runner is a threat to run? I don't know. But I like what I am seeing. -
Ive been watching some Pillar catches throughout the year and I must say, it tickles my brain a little each time Buck says "Oh My!"

What I like most about Brunt is that he stays in those areas he knows best... and knows them really, really well. He's not going to be able to tell you who the Jays top 10 prospects are. But he never tries to pretend or give the illusion he can.

I think you got it right. Like f*** he doesn't care. What he is saying now, is not what he has said in the past (it meant a lot to him). Of course no expects to risk anything to get him the milestone. But let him go out and start the game Sunday. Actually, would be nice if the game got rained out tomorrow and had to make it up after the last day of the season. Actually would they do that if it was meaningless?

It's hard not to chalk this up to knuckle ball effect. Look how bad the Yanks played after facing 2 knucklers in like 3 days. Now the day after they face Dickey, they can't hit. Not to take away from Ramirez, but Dickey has to have helped.
