  1. Thole adds nothing.
  2. I think the deciding factor for me is Stroman offers the additional satisfaction of being able to watch Keith Law's twitter feed, if he goes out and throws a gem.
  3. If you pitched more then 50 innings for the jays in the last 10 years you are in.
  4. Thole © Smoak (1b) Saunders (lf) Upton Jr (cf) Carrera (rf) Barney (ss) Goins (2nd) Navarro (3rd) Pompey (Dh)
  5. Crazy thoughts from a rambling mind. Of any current or former Jays pitchers from, lets say, the last 10 years, who would horrify you the most to find out they were starting the WC game?
  6. Done.
  7. I'm kind of looking forward to this. The thought of one and out kind of sucks.... but man, think how few and far between a game like this is. Everything left on the field.
  8. Why Have Smoak over Goins? Smoak is awful. Goins could probably play a better first base... though I can't think of the scenerio.
  9. I would have Goins in there over Smoak. Can play more positions and about the only thing he can't do better then Smoak is hit the homerun. But who the hell is Smoak going to pinch it for anyway? He can also kind of bunt and make contact better. Also, I think you can have Dickey and no Thole. You protected Martin all year, but he can catch Dickey.
  10. You're probably right. I didn't really give this much thought. Still think the pen is so bad he might merit consideration.
  11. Is it a lock Dickey is out of the conversation for playoff roster? I could where you might almost want him starting game 1 against Texas. If they have to use Liriano and Stroman. If that's the case and they make it out alive, I'm not saying concede game one, but you'll need a breather and it's not like it would be a massive surprise to see Dickey go 7 decent innings. You'd have to use Martin, but I still think it could work. Other then that you could use him out of the pen, if you need to survive a blow out, or if your starter can only go 5... or extras. Jays pen is just so bad right now, Dickey might be a viable option.
  12. It will matter when the other families take the estate to court. MLB should nip that in the bud and offer the other 2 families 500k to shut that stuff down.
  13. 85 mph right down the pipe?
  14. An awesome moment. But do you think Colon just grooved one down the pipe for him?
  15. But his estate wouldn't get 34k annually. Might get something, but not 34k.... and aslo, I'm not sure you start collecting until you are 60 or so.
  16. I doubt he had any sort of a decent pension. MLB has life insurance policies, but I was listening to Lebatard this morning and he was saying there are a lot of stipulations on that life insurance and the family may never see a dime (most likely alcohol involved, speed, no life jackets). He was also mentioning how his agent had refused HUGE contract offers from the Marlins, which in hindsight is tough to take.
  17. I know it's not right to bring up the money. But that kid was going to make 200m in his career. I'm not sure if he's made 5 million dollars yet. 5 million is a lot of money, but when you take half of that away for tax and agent fee's, then consider his currents expenditures, that doesn't leave much, perhaps a million of so. Apparently he has a child on the way, his grandmother and mother, which I assume he was supporting. Just tragic.
  18. My favorite memory of him was when I first heard of him the day of the trade.
  19. Who cares if they did. People talk on here like the whole system would shut down if they signed. it's really inconsequential. I'm very interested to see how he will do. I'm almost sure he has no chance of making it. But if he even made it to AA and hit around .250 that would be very impressive to how far he came. Johnny Manziel might have a shot if he plays college baseball this year, he's a lot younger. I think the only player that I can think of that took significant time off and came back to play was Evan Gattis.
  20. Is Joe Biagini a guy you consider for a possible starters role in the future? Or is he just a really lucky/and or good reliever that would be exposed as a starter?
  21. 29 is just to old to start playing baseball. Johnny football on the other hand has a shot if he starts playing college ball this year. I'd like to see Tebow make it though, would be awesome. I think it would be awesome if he could end up hitting .250 in high A.
  22. Fight for him? Almost no one wants him. His own team doesn't want him.
  23. Yeah that's bad, but he would get 200M on the open market next winter if he were a free agent I think. Also, he mentioned retiring if his skills don't play at a certain point. I could see him doing that at age 39 or so. Also.. thats sooooo far away 2023. It would just be so fun for like 4 or 5 years.
  24. Not really. A potential Votto deal would supposedly cost not that much in terms of prospects.
  25. The bigger problem for the Angels is that they absolutely decimated their farm system trying to contend. Not just the Hamilton and Puljos contract.
