  1. He'll get his shot, between Granderson's age and Pearce's fragility/suckiness, there should be plenty of outfield reps for the taking. No need to force prospects into full time duty too soon.
  2. Jays win 86, Washington over Houston in the WS.
  3. Somehow this is not a joke. Please let this get scrapped quickly and never threaten to reach the majors. https://www.mlb.com/news/minor-leagues-get-pace-of-play-rule-changes/c-268693032
  4. I'd actually be okay with CarGo, at least much moreso than Bruce, since he's likely to take a one year bounceback deal as opposed to the 3-4 years that Bruce is likely asking. Obviously people go on and on about home/away splits but really most players hit much better in their home ballparks. Coors obviously inflates offensive stats but that's why we have park adjusted metrics like wRC+. Also, his defense his consistently ranked as middling, not terrible, by UZR and DRS. Bruce has been a clear negative on defense for the last several years.
  5. I'm not up to date on the latest board memes, so I'm just going to assume that they're all just outrageous things Grant has said at some point, since that's where they usually come from.
  6. Disappointed, I was hoping to see more of the True Cardinal trolls. Clearly gonna have to start a "Diaz is a STUD" on their message board to get things moving.
  7. Time to reunite the team of Arencibia and Lawrie. Capture those young female and douchebro audiences.
  8. Yes, I found his hitting quite inappropriate for a major leaguer. Shameful, really.
  9. I like it, solid depth move with a bit of upside. Wouldn't expect Diaz to post another .370 wOBA but as long as he can passably fill in at SS/2B, then this is a great move. If the bat proves to be above average then it's even greater.
  10. I'm interested to see how the market develops. If it ends up being in the 2/20 range, I'm cool with that, but with his whole "versatility" aspect, he's a fit on a lot of teams, so we could see the bidding raise his price a bit. If it gets to a 3 or even 4 year deal in the 30+mil range, then that's a hard no. Also, I definitely wouldn't consider him an option at SS - he's been a butcher there his whole career, with UZR/150 of -18.3. 2B/3B/corner OF would definitely be handy though.
  11. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-2018-free-agent-landmines/ Article about free agents to avoid. Notable - Eduardo Nunez makes the list, a player that many people see as a fit for the Jays. But on the wrong side of 30, if Nunez has any kind of dropoff in speed or contact, he could easily become a replacement level sinkhole of a contract, like we previously saw with Maicer Izturis.
  12. MLB just agrees with BTS in this thread, so they decided to not let Coppolella touch any other front office.
  13. Koehler should absolutely be non-tendered but I wouldn't be opposed to re-signing him at a lower rate. Maybe they can pull another Liam Hendriks and get a good reliever out of a bad starter.
  14. Scooter Gennett could be another good trade target. Can play 2B and the outfield, Reds are looking to cut payroll. Could be worth a gamble to see if his breakout year was legit.
  15. Thanks Hurl, it's true I have not posted in a while but it's nice to be back.
  16. Yeah Joe Smith has been great, but people ITT are reacting a bit excessively to a middle-reliever going on the DL...
  17. So, Astros utility man Marwin Gonzalez, who has barely slugged .400 in his career, hit his 11th home run last night (last year he had 13 in 518 PAs) and now has a SLG of .627. Another obscure player suddenly developing home run pop.
  18. Stop listening to talk radio, that's all there is to it.
  19. It's no big deal, Buck wouldn't use him anyway.
  20. Bautista is getting eaten up at the plate.
  21. Maybe he's trying to get his career WAR even with his brother Jeff.
  22. My favourite Neil Ramirez memory is when I first thought he was Neil Wagner and I was like "oh yeah, that guy"
  23. Looks like he's adopted the Cito/Dwayne Murphy school of hitting approach.
  24. Yonder Alonso hit his 9th home run yesterday, tying his career-high.
  25. Eugenio Suarez has been a beast for the Reds so far this year. If he can maintain his improved K% at least to some extent then he could be a nice building block for them.
