  1. Nice to be 41 and lumped in with the youngsters.
  2. I'm 41 and were down to one parent on my wife's side. No grandparents. I do have a great uncle and aunt that are 104 and 101 respectively.
  3. Anthopoulos. Anthopoulos knew.
  4. No blackouts in effect for premium service.
  5. Yes. I've only had it for a few weeks and it's great. My TV has a built-in app for it and I've also watched games on my Surface. TV has been a bit glitchier than the tablet, but still good.
  6. Hutch is so frustrating in how he'll go through multi-inning stretches where he looks great and then seems to completely lose it.
  7. I've only had it a few weeks, and it's been a bit glitch, but still better than paying Bell fees. Watched a game on my tablet with its app when the one on my TV wasn't working. No major problems for me yet. Will probably subscribe as long as there is no blackout.
  8. In the past, this kind of thread would have been a jinx, but now the universe can just FYSMC. We'll be fine.
  9. Martin and Tulo both just getting days off?
  10. I don't like this. DV so much more versatile than Colabello.
  11. I'm in the approve camp now. See AA? That wasn't so hard.
  12. And in no universe, parallel or current, should Revere hit anywhere higher than 7th in that lineup.
  13. I would stick with Tulo, JD and Bautista as the top three. That's got to be just terrifying for opposition pitchers warming up in the first inning.
  14. I voted yes, but I'm not sure it really matters. Daniel Norris' Lord has made this deal happen, who are we to argue?
  15. The Jays haven't given him that contract yet though (I don't think -- I'm probably a few pages behind at this point). Does this deal make sense from a value perspective? Most probably not, but it makes sense from a winning perspective. I do believe there is value in making a post-season run. It might not be as tangible as mapping out Norris' value moving forward, but it's there. I'm not sure how many on this forum remember the "glory days", but they were amazing. Toronto isn't the greatest sports town by any means, but it doesn't take much for the atmosphere to turn very, very good with a bit of success.
  16. At this point, I don't even really care what we give up (within reason), even though I probably should. If it's Norris + Alford, I can live with that. Even if Price walks next season, with Stroman and Osuna perhaps in the rotation, I think we'll be fine. The other component is that over the last couple of years, it seems like Toronto has turned itself into a pretty hip place to want to play. Whether it's the #WeTheNorth stuff, or Stroman and his endless promotion of the city...I wouldn't put it past this organization to be able to add in the offseason if Price bolts.
  17. Me too. Personally, I voted strongly disapprove. Not because he hasn't added some great pieces, but more so because he hasn't been able to fill out the roster. He seems to always get 80% done and then...
  18. I guess. Still seems pretty moronic to complain about what you're willing to do and not do while you're in the process of leaving a terrible organization for another that has the chance to win. The sooner all of the shine is off "saves", the better this game will be.
  19. Didn't Papelbon also say pre-trade that he wouldn't set up for anybody else, and didn't want to share the 9th inning? Jeez, these guys are acting like children.
  20. My main problem wasn't so much about Reyes, but how I envisioned how the organization would handle him as his skills continued to degrade. His salary aside, if the Jays could have found a way to move him down in the order, replaced him late in the game with Goins, convinced him to consider a move to LF, then having Reyes on this roster is a lot more palatable. I just got the feeling that for whatever reason, this organization would have left him locked in at short and at leadoff throughout the duration of his contract, even if it wasn't in the best interest of this team because of #veteran.
  21. I guess it depends on which people you're talking about. I remember most people who hang around in these parts were pretty dubious about the deal. Not only for losing Noah and TDA, but because it also enforced JPA as starting catcher.
  22. First year university at Guelph. It was crazy.
  23. Improving is improving. Perhaps adding another big bat allows them to target a mid-tier starter at a lower cost than an ace who only has to be better than Doubront. Hawkins, Sanchez, Osuna, Bo, Hendriks is turning into a pretty nice little bullpen.
  24. Overall I said strongly disapprove, mostly on the basis of whether or not I think this team can win the World Series with him as a GM. I get that he isn't the worst GM in the game and has made some nice moves, but the problem I have is that it always seems to be the same MO with him; build 80% of a solid roster and then basically punt the last 20%. Guys that start off struggling seem to get blackballed, and guys that start off well seem to get so much rope, even when they devolve into terribleness. Obviously we could have it worse (RAJ), but I don't think the possibility of being worse is enough for him to earn any sort of positive endorsement for his 6 year track record, IMO.
